The circuit was designed by late JH1FCZ and kitted by his FCZ lab as model
TX-502 many years ago. It is now reborn.

Alignment:
1. You will need a multi meter and a 50MHz AM receiver at minimum. It is
a plus if you have access to an oscilloscope. If you have access to a
spectrum analyzer, even tinySA, it will be very helpful.
2. Power on with 9V battery or regulated DC power supply, the red LED
should be ON. If you connect the polarization incorrectly, your
LM386 will be likely dead, so be very careful. Measure the overall
current consumption and it will be somewhere at 25mA.
3. Connect a 50 ohm dummy load to the ANT socket. Use oscilloscope to
measure the waveform. If you cannot see a sine wave, you should adjust
the core of L1 higher. If you don’t have access to an oscilloscope, you
can plug in a piece of wire to ANT socket to radiate so you can monitor
with your AM receiver. Speak to the microphone and you should hear.
4. Adjust the cores of L1 and L2 to make the signal louder and voice
clearer. Sometimes they cannot coexist. To get purer signal, you will
likely sacrifice the signal a bit. If you use tinySA like me, you can
clearly see the spurious. When you don’t talk to the microphone, you
can get 10dBm (10mW at 9V) carrier signal and about -30dBc spurious
suppression.
5. You can also go with the classic way to measure with a RF probe at point
a, b and c on PCB, as instructed by JH1FCZ in his book or article.
6. With a resonant antenna, you can use it a wireless microphone, or you
can use it together with the regenerative receiver by a DPDT switch to
make a tiny walkie-talkie.
