PART I.
A. Introduction
Localization is defined as utilizing available resources accessible in your surroundings (community).
As a result, common art in the region employs a variety of materials that are typically sorted or gathered by
locals in the community.
B. Discussion
The things which the local art is made of are known as indigenous materials or substances. The
artists have used these materials to create and share their feelings and ideas. Some contemporary artists have
incorporated found objects such as old bottles, scraps, and strange materials into their work.
Which revolves around a basic trend for artist such as:
1. Metal, wood, stone, clay, and glass are all used by sculptors in artistic work.
2. Wood, bamboo, bricks, stone, concrete, as well as other building materials are used by the architect.
3. The painter paints using pigments (watercolor, oil, tempera, textile paint, acrylic, ink, and so on) on a
level surface (wood, canvas, paper, or a stone wall, as in a cave painting).
4. While paintings are unique and one-of-a-kind, prints can be reproduced in multiple predefined editions
using ink printed or transferred on a medium (wood, metal, plates, or silk screen) that is in keeping with
a duplicating or replicating process.
5. A Northern-Luzon chanter sings stories in a way that is different from a classical singer or a pop vocalist
who is influenced by the Western music scale.
6. The dancer make use of his or her body and its movements. Although music is frequently used to
accompany dancing, there are a few dances that do not require it. Dance can tell stories, but it can also
convey abstract notions that aren't based on a story.
7. Theater artists use stage, production design, performance elements, and storyline to integrate the visual,
musical, dance, and other aspects of the work together as a whole.
8. The camera which is used by the photographer and filmmaker to capture the outside world. The
filmmaker films and assembles production design, sound engineering, performance, and screenplay
using a cinematographic camera. Images can be integrated into the computer in digital photography and
film, removing the need for celluloid or negatives, processing chemicals, or print.
9. Words are used by novelists, poets, nonfiction writers, and fiction writers. The designer, the performance
artist, and the installation artist all employ a variety of materials in their work.

C. Readings
Indigenous materials or substances abound in the Philippines. From the mountains to the sea, we
have an endless supply of materials with which to produce various works of art.
In the Philippines, local materials are used for arts and crafts such as:
1. In the banana family, including Abaca (with its fibers) has a natural shine and comes in a variety of
colors from white to ivory to dark brown.

2. Bamboo is used to make a variety of items. It is used in construction, textiles, and other industries. A variety of

musical instruments, and so on.

towering or low climbers, single stemmed or clustered rattan species.

6. Sea shells are the hard exoskeletons that protect and support the bodies of marine mollusks such as
snails, bivalves, and chitons. This material is commonly used to make ornaments and decorations for the
home.
