Student Learning Target I can identify the different Egyptian gods and analyze a primary source using the pear
deck and the primary source activity so I can show the influence of Egyptian mythology
throughout the world today

Success Criteria I understand how to analyze a primary source and the importance of being able to
translate ancient artifacts

● Warm-ups: In 2-3 sentences, How many gods in total do you believe the Egyptians had
throughout ancient times? What kind of gods do you think they believed in? (10 min)

Launch (7-15 minutes) Build background knowledge/connect to previous learning.

Summary (7-10 minutes) Use of Collaborative Structures to share/summarize student learning.


● Book of the Dead primary source analysis
○ Hand out the images of a page out of the Book of the Dead
○ In able groups have the students analyze the document and fill in what they can
decipher on the worksheet (5-7 min)
○ Bring class together and let them share out their findings
○ Show class the correct answers and the translation of the page (5-7 min)
● Play the Moon Knight Episode 3 (clip showing the Ancient Egyptian culture still
resonating in today’s popular culture (5 min))

Closing (2-3 minutes) Ticket out the Door


● Why do they think the Egyptians had so many gods? Which god do they believe to be
the most important or most fascinating?
○ Get examples from the class
● Finish final 5 minutes of class (5 min)

● Need to print out images of Book of the dead


○ 32 images with the spaces to fill in
○ 8 images of just the page
● Print out copies of crossword puzzle
● Make a pantheon pyramid sheet for the different gods
