    Student Learning Target I can identify the different Egyptian gods and analyze a primary source using the pear
    deck and the primary source activity so I can show the influence of Egyptian mythology
    throughout the world today

    Success Criteria I understand how to analyze a primary source and the importance of being able to
    translate ancient artifacts

    Colorado Academic 1.1: Use a variety of primary and secondary sources from multiple perspectives to
    Standards formulate an appropriate thesis supported by evidence.
    b: Examine primary and secondary sources to identify points of view while
    formulating historical claims and questions. For example: art, eyewitness
    accounts, letters and diaries, artifacts, historical sites, charts, graphs, diagrams,
    and written texts
    1.2. The historical context of significant current events, individuals, groups, ideas, and
    themes within regions of the Eastern Hemisphere and their relationships with one
    another.
    a. Identify and explain the historical context of key people, regions, events,
    and ideas; including the roots of current issues. For example: Mansa
    Musa, the conflicts in the Middle East, the Black Death, and
    Confucianism.
    b. Investigate and evaluate the social, political, cultural and technological
    development of regions in the Eastern Hemisphere. For example: the
    river valley civilizations, Hammurabi’s Code, the Hellenistic period, and
    the printing press

    ○ Hand out the images of a page out of the Book of the Dead
    ○ In able groups have the students analyze the document and fill in what they can
    decipher on the worksheet (5-7 min)
    ○ Bring class together and let them share out their findings
    ○ Show class the correct answers and the translation of the page (5-7 min)
    ● Play the Moon Knight Episode 3 (clip showing the Ancient Egyptian culture still
    resonating in today’s popular culture (5 min))

    Closing (2-3 minutes) Ticket out the Door


    ● Why do they think the Egyptians had so many gods? Which god do they believe to be
    the most important or most fascinating?
