A hobby is an activity or interest that is done outside work and


for pleasure, amusement or relaxation. Most hobbies are an
ideal way to relax and forget about the stress of everyday life.
Pastime activities are aso good conversation starters and may
even help to find new friends and stregthen existing
relationships. In addition, some leisure pursuits ca add a sense
of meaning to life.
People choose the free time activity according to a number of
factors, such as their interests, mood and amount of free time.
Furthermore, individuals’ personal traits, such as temperament
influence the choice of recreational activities.
People who are introvert often prefer passive hobbies that do
not require meeting others and leaving home. On the other
hand, those who hate being alone choose leisure pursuits
where they can socialize.

Most popular indoor hobbies are: playing board games, cards


and doing puzzles, crosswords.
Outdoor hobbies: being in the nature, go hiking, birdwatching,
gardening, or doing some sports.

Why is it important for a family to share a pastime activity? it


helps to create a healthy atmosphere at home. A common
pastime strengthens family relations and contributes to the
phychological development of children.

Ideal pastime activities for elderly: many seniors rediscoer the


sports as a hobby. Ideal hobbies are hobbies which involves
socialization and fun. Senior clubs are also a good choice to
sozialize.
What ways of education can be considered a hobby?
When there is o pressure to learn, learning becomes fun. The
best-known traditional way of getting knowledge is reading.
Language learning as a hobby has a lot of advantages since it
offers insight into different cutures and opens up new ways of
thinking. Learning languages is also good to improve the
memory. Attending a language course makes it possible to
meet new friends.

How is it possible to make money from hobbies?


People can make money from their hobbies by selling products
that they have prepared or by offering service. For example, a
lot of retired people who prepare and sell homemade products,
such as pots of jam, cakes, cookies, pickles.
There are others who are fond of repairing furniture or
machnes, or dealing with compupter problems and provide
these services to earn some money.
There is a series of issues that should be considered before
turning your hobby into a business. First of all it is wortsh
speaking to an expert who can evaluate the quality of your
work. Then you should find out whether there is a market for
your hobby. Then you have to make a financial plan to see the
investments and profits.
The drawbacks: since a hobby is something that people look
forward to doing to relax or have fun, having to do the activity
for money makes it an obligation rather than an obsession.
Making mistakes when you enjoy a leisure pursuit is of no
consequence, but once mistake happen at work you may face
serious problems. Any kind of business involves a lot of
monotonous and time-consuming paperwork that ruins much of
the enjoyment of the activity.
