Santa Puppet Craft

You will need:

• Printed templates from this pack
• Scissors
• Red, black and white felt
• Flesh tone felt
• Needle
• Thread
• Glue gun or fabric glue

1) First, print the template pack provided. If you are going

to use these templates multiple times, we advise printing
them on card to improve longevity. Then, cut around the
templates in the pack.

2) Then, place each template on the correct coloured felt for

that element and draw around it. Then cut out each
element.

3) Take the two hand puppet outlines and place them on

top of each other.

4) If the outlines do not match, you can always snip any

mistakes away. However, do not worry about this being
exact as most of these edges will be covered in the final
Santa puppet.

5) Use whip stitch or running stitch around the edge of the

two felt layers to add a hem and attach them. Remember
not to sew up the bottom of the hand puppet.

6) Now get the rest of the elements ready to turn this hand
puppet template into Santa. You will need fabric glue or a
hot glue gun to attach these pieces of felt together. Make
sure an adult uses the hot glue gun.

7) Add Santa’s bright red coat.

8) Next, add Santa’s beard.

9) Then add Santa’s hat. The hat should be just above the
top of the beard.

10) Then add the hat lining to close this gap.

11) Next is the moustache.

12) As a top tip, to make Santa’s belt you can use the
template, or glue a longer strip of black felt across where
you would like Santa’s belt to be.

13) Then snip off the excess at the sides.

14) Next, use spare bits of felt to give Santa his eyes, nose
and mouth, plus the white bobble at the top of his hat.
