Troi knows her role is crucial for the company and demonstrates her
commitment by showing up earlier than everyone else.
Troi shows she has good leadership skills when she reallocates resources when
needed. This is shown when she decides to use some of the time of her personnel
to help her fellow IS manager’s team to get back on schedule. Sometimes Troi
finds herself in situations out of her control and must experience delays or waits
to talk to her co-workers, she uses her time efficiently by catching up on some e-
mails when she is waiting for the rest of the members to get on the conference
call or when she catches up on her Slack profile while she waits to speak with

She possesses excellent problem-solving skills. She identifies and quickly
acts on any issues that come up on her project. Troi receives feedback from her
project team about the issue and immediately contacts John to get more details
about it, this also shows she has customer expectations in mind. She shares her
resolution with her team after having talked to Mary. She forecasts possible
situations because of this situation with her team and by herself in the office. She
also acknowledges the good work of her coworkers. This happens when she takes
a bit of her time to thank Chandra for her analysis at the status report meeting.
This way, Chandra knows her work is being recognized and motivates her to keep
it the good work[ CITATION Eri21 \l 4105 ].
2. What does the case tell you about what is it like to be a project manager?
After reading this case, I believe being a project manager involves having an
incredible amount of responsibility on one’s plate. They represent the company
when dealing with stakeholders and they are in charge that such get updates

We can see from the whole day schedule provided by the case, that there are two side for Rachel
performance during the day as follow
Although Rachel spent around 70% of her working time dealing directly with project related work. Which
can make us feel that she is an effective project manager. But there are more than one point shows her
weakness and poor quality like the following:
- Rachel spent 130mins (25% of her total working time) just on handling client firm’s while she has to
have a report system among each department’s head and Project manager, so that before things going to
the public or to client’s side, they still have a plenty of chances to make it right, otherwise; they have no
choice but to waste more costs (time and money) to correct it again.
2. What does the case tell you about what it is like to be a project manager?
We can see that she did different roles while acting like Project manager as we can see below:
As a project management, she should be the captain of football team understanding exactly
which way we should move on within the game. Project management not only has to have good
sense of responsibility, but also has to monitor what is going on in each phase. People says that
the performance of the team is not determined by the most outstanding teammates, instead; is
determined by the weakest one. making sure the slowest part to catch up the pace of the whole
team is one of the imperative job of project manager.
Sometimes, workers not only have to be responsible to project manager but they also still have to
do original tasks from their regular team. Thus, product manager needed to be powerful in order
to coordinate conflicting issues between each department
Project manager takes full responsibility in entire project which should be successful within time
and budget. On the other hand, some people might think to be a project manager can feel a great
deal of sense of achievement as long as finishing the task. Therefore, project manager is a job
which needs all kinds of ability including organizing, allocating resources, communicating,
cheering people, coordinating, politic skill, and so on.
Part A: Person J's and Person V's projects are in the executing phase. Person F's project is in the defining
phase.
Part B: Person J's and Person V's projects are in the executing phase. Person F's project is in the planning
phase.
Part C: Person V's and Person J's projects are in the closing phase. Person F's phase is in the executing
phase.
The projects are in the following phases: In the first part of the case study, the projects of Person V and
Person J are in the executing phase since Person V's stimulator is in the testing stage. Person J is also
working on the sharing economy and is about to demonstrate the idea to get funding. Person F's project
is in the defining phase since the scope of their project is yet to be defined. The second part of the case
study shows that projects of Person V and Person J are still in the executing phase. This is because the
testing of Person V's simulator failed and now, again they are working on another testing with new
technology; Person J's first attempt also failed and again the programming is being done. Person F's
project is in the planning phase because the project involves a discussion on risk management, which is
closely related to the planning phase; Person F is also doing scheduling of the work. The last section of
the case study shows that Person V's project is in closing phase since the project is completed
successfully and Peron J's project has failed and has been closed. Person F's project is in the executing
phase since the people are now working on the tasks assigned to them. The closing phase may contain a
discussion related to the failure of the project.
The things learned from the case are: The success of any project depends on its outcomes, and to
achieve the project outcomes, a properly defined scope is needed. The scheduling is closely related to
the beginning and closing of involved processes to complete the project on time and assist in eliminating
the risk of project failure. The scheduling and defined scope are crucial because the entire project is
majorly dependent on it. There are many important factors in a project, but without a defined scope it
can often get difficult to achieve the aim. Also, the scheduling creates the plan, and timing of each
activity. It helps in deciding the task of each resource and the required quantity of resources. Verified

should be properly defined. There should be proper scheduling of the project. It is important to consider
the project goal definition and proper scheduling of the process to complete a project effectively and
efficiently.
