NOTE FOR STUDENTS ON WHAT TO WRITE IN THE PROJECT:

The Project will include the following sections:

a) Acknowledgement

b) Certificate

c) Content

I) Introduction of what they are going to write about

ii) Procedure

iii) Output of the project : a story/ a report/ an interview/ a letter/

autobiography/travelogue/poetry/article etc.------ PASTE RELEVANT PICTURES

iv) Conclusion

v) Bibliography

WORD LIMIT : 800-1000 words.

GROUP 1 : ROLL NO 1 - 15

TOPIC: A THING OF BEAUTY

1. Write the central idea and summary of the poem.

2. How is the pall of despondence moved away from our dark spirits?

3. Mention the rhyme scheme and the poetic devices used in the poem with examples.
( from the poem)

4. Mention the things of beauty suggested by the poet. Do beautiful things affect you? How?
Paste pictures
5. We have often heard the phrase: ‘Beauty is skin deep’. In spite of that, we often see
people idolising actors and celebrities who are good looking and attractive. You have
a conversation regarding this with your friend who believes that physical beauty defines a person.

Write down that conversation.

6. Write some exclusive quotations on the topic ‘’Beauty”/ ‘’Beautiful things’’

GROUP 2 : ROLL NO 16-30

TOPIC: JOURNEY TO THE END OF THE EARTH

1. What is a travelogue? What does a travelogue contain? Who writes it?

2.’Take care of small things and the big things will take care of themselves ’ What is the relevance
of this statement in the context of the Antarctic environment?

3. Why do you think ‘Journey to the end of the Earth’ is a travelogue?

4. What is the significance of the title ‘Journey to the End of the Earth’?

5. Draw/Paste picture showing the various stages in the development of the lesson.

6. Imagine an interview where Green is asked to explain more about his work and why he decided
to initiate programs for students. Keeping both Green and the interviewer’s perspectives in
mind , pen down this interview.

GROUP 3 : ROLL NO 31-45

TOPIC : LOST SPRING

1. How do you think the author’s life might have been impacted after her interactions with
the children and their families mentioned in ‘Lost Spring’?

2. ‘Garbage is Gold’ for the people of Seemapuri but ‘for a child it is even more’. Write an article
on the life of ragpickers of Seemapuri in 120-150 word. Paste pictures.

3. Do you believe that God given lineage can be broken? Support your position with a rationale.

4. How is Mukesh’s attitude towards his situation different from that of Saheb? Why?

5. How do children lose the spring of their life in India? Name the circumstances that condemn
them to lead a life of perpetual exploitation and misery.

6.Mukesh has a dream to become a pilot. Suggest few relevant ideas to Mukesh to realise his dream.
GROUP 4 : ROLL NO 46-60

TOPIC: INDIGO

1. Imagine Gandhi were to deliver a speech to students in present day India showing them the path
to becoming responsible world leaders. Based on your understanding of Gandhi’s own
leadership skills, write a speech, as Gandhi, addressing the students about the qualities that
every leader and politician should nurture.

Dear students, you are all leaders of social change. I see many bright and enthusiastic faces that
assure me that our future is in good hands. I have learnt from my own
experience……………(continue)………….

2. Gandhi was a lawyer himself. Examine how his professional expertise helped in Champaran.

3.What were Gandhiji’s efforts to remove the Social and Cultural backwardness of
Champaran after the sharecropping system came to an end.

4. How can the Champaran episode be taken as a turning point in the life of Gandhiji ?

5.How do you think that the chapter is a lesson in Self Reliance for us all. Justify your
answer by citing examples from the chapter.

6.Supplement your project by pasting pictures related to the incidents narrated in the
chapter.

GROUP 5 : ROLL NO 61-85

TOPIC: AUNT Jennifer’s Tigers

1. Write the poem in your file.

2. Discuss the theme and note down the summary of the poem.

3. Interpret the symbols found in the poem. Mention the poetic devices used with examples in
the poem

4. Do hobbies and pastimes really help people in reducing their stress and tension.
Cite 5 such hobbies that help people in relieving themselves from a bad state of being.
Paste pictures in support of your answers.

5. Look for a poem based on the theme ‘Restriction and Freedom’ and write it in the file.

6. Read the given extract from an article published in The Independent:

“Turn your pain into art”: it’s a phrase most of us have heard before… The theory that achieving
something great requires suffering dates back to ancient times… Pain, however, is less an artistic
necessity and more a result of “contagion” – a term used for the spreading of a harmful idea or
practice…In the context of the struggling artist, it allows mental illness to fester; to be glamourised
and admired; even encouraged in the name of art.

- Do you think Aunt Jennifer “turned her pain into art”? What kind of “contagion” might her pain be a
result of? - Evaluate Aunt Jennifer and her artistry in light of the above extract.
