The areas of learning and development
The areas of learning and development
There are seven areas of learning and development that shape our educational programme in early years settings. All areas
are important and interconnected. Three, areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for
learning and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These three prime areas are :
1. Communication and Language
2. Physical Development
3. Personal, Social and Emotional development
The activity planners are made integrating the prime areas as a focus.

Academic Planners are made keeping the below four specific areas in mind.
1. Literary,
2. Numeracy,
3. Understanding the world,
4. Expressive art and design.
It is through these areas that the three prime areas of language, socio-emotional and motor skills are also strengthened and
applied.
Our guiding principle is that children learn and develop in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to
their individual needs. Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates.
