Getting Started
Welcome to the CTERA End User Portal's new UI! Here's everything you need to get started
with CTERA Portal in ten minutes or less.
You can add as many folders as you like to the Cloud Drive tab, but the following two folders
are there by default:
The My Files folder is automatically synced to the cloud when CTERA Agent is installed on
your computer. In this example, you can see some documents, PDFs, and images.
The Shared With Me folder contains all of the content that other users shared with you.
In this example, there is one folder called "Marketing Project", which includes a
presentation that Alice Green from the Marketing department shared with you. As you
can see, Alice gave you Read Only permission for this folder.
The Devices tab lists all of your devices that are connected to your CTERA Portal account.
Below each device, you can see the last time it was backed up, along with the size of the
backup.
To manage your account and access additional options, click on the user menu, which
appears as a circle in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Upload Files
Now let's upload some files to the My Files folder. Upload can be done by browsing to a file
or via drag & drop.
1 Click on the My Files folder.
2 Click the Upload icon and browse to the files you want to upload.
Alternatively, you can drag the files from your PC to the browser window. If you are using
a modern browser, You can even drag entire folders.
2 To clear the search, click next to the Search this folder box.
For information on what each icon means, see Actions You Can Perform (page 13).
To select ALL files and folders, or to clear all the selected items, use this check box.
1 Download. If you selected multiple items, they are downloaded in a ZIP file.
2 Work with a selected item's version history. See Recover Previous Versions of a File (page
16).
3 Copy or move the selected items to another folder.
4 Delete the selected file(s).
5 Rename the selected file.
6 Create or manage public links. See Use Public Links (page 19).
7 Manage the collaborators list. See Collaborate on Files (page 20).
8 Edit Files Using CTERA Edit. See Edit Files Using CTERA Edit for Chrome (page 15).
9 Undelete the selected file(s). See Recover Deleted Files (page 16).
View Files
Simply click on a file, to view it in the online viewer.
The file is downloaded to your PC and opened in the program associated with this file
type.
2 Make whatever changes you like, and save the file.
3 Now the latest version of the file is available in your Cloud Drive, and you can view it in
the online viewer.
2 Select the files you want to restore, then click the Undelete icon .
1 Select a file in your Cloud Drive, then click the Version History icon .
The File Version dialog box appears displaying the different versions that exist for the file.
3. Restore the selected file version, making this older version replace the current one.

1 Select a folder or file in your Cloud Drive, then click on the Link icon .
Collaborate on Files
You can invite co-workers, external users, or groups of users to collaborate on a folder or file
with you. Collaborators will receive an email notification inviting them to collaborate on the
project. They can then view or edit files in the project and/or add files and folders to the
project, depending on their permissions.
1 Select a folder or file in your Cloud Drive, then click on the Collaborators icon .
2 Type an email address, user name, or user group in the field, then choose the contact
with whom you want to collaborate.
3 Do any of the following:
Configure an expiration date for the link to the shared file, by clicking .
For external users defined by email, define authentication settings such as email or
4 Configure project settings by clicking and select the options you want:
If you have permission to do so, you can specify that the folder is a team project (This
is a team project). This means that the folder will appear in the recipient’s Shared
with me folder without your name.
You can define whether the folder can be synced to the computer of other team
members (Allow team members to sync this folder). This option is only available for
top-level folders.
You can also define wither the item can be re-shared by the recipients. If you want to
prevent the recipients from sharing your items further with additional people, clear
this check box.
5 Click Save.

If you have not yet configured an avatar, your initials will appear instead.
2 You can upload an avatar by clicking . Then provide your best looking picture,
making sure it is in JPEG or PNG format.
To connect a PC or server
1 Install the CTERA Agent. See Install CTERA Agent (page 33).
2 Click on the agent's taskbar icon.
This page displays all of your devices that are currently connected to your account, for
example laptops, mobile phones, etc. From here, you can connect to a device, view the
files and folders that were backed up from a device, restore backups, and so on.
1. The device name, along with a circle indicating whether the device is currently online
(green) or not (red).
4. How long ago the last backup was performed, along with a link to view the backup.
To view previous backups of this device, click More Versions, then select the backup
you want to view.
To download the selected items, click the Download icon . If nothing is selected,
the current folder will be downloaded as a ZIP file.
To restore a backed up file or folder to the original device, select the file/folder and
