B. ADJECTIVE OF QUALITIES

Kata sifat yang menunjukkan mutu atau kualitas dari suatu benda. Adjective of Quality disebut
juga sebagai deskriptive adjective karena sifatnya yang menggambarkan jenis dari kata benda.

A. DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Teks yang bertujuan menjelaskan, menggambarkan, atau mendeskripsikan sesuatu.
Sesuatu ini bentuknya bisa berupa apa saja, baik itu hewan, benda, lokasi, dan lain
sebagainya.

a. Generic Structure Descriptive Text


Tujuan descriptive text adalah menggambarkan, mengungkapkan juga mendeskripsikan
suatu ciri-ciri, baik itu pada benda, hewan, tempat dan lain-lain. Descriptive text juga dibuat
tanpa melakukan riset secara detail sebelumnya, jadi penulis hanya perlu menuliskan cerita
berdasarkan pada apa yang ia lihat dan ia dengarkan.

1. Identification
Identification (identifikasi) adalah pendahuluan, berupa gambaran umum tentang suatu
topik.

2. Description
Description (deskripsi) adalah berisi ciri-ciri khusus yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau
bagaimana suatu benda dideskripsikan. Misalnya sifat-sifat, tampilan fisik, dan hal lain yang
kemudian dituliskan dengan spesifik.

b. Language features of the text (ciri kebahasaan)


Ciri-ciri dari descriptive text antara lain:

 Present tense, menggunakan kata kerja bentuk present, seperti my aunt likes


cooking, it has two doors, dsb.
 State verb, menggunakan kata kerja statif yakni menggambarkan suatu keadaan,
seperti think, believe, have, belong, love, hate, dsb.
 Adjective, menggunakan kata sifat, seperti long, beautiful, tremendous, dsb.
 Adverb, menggunakan kata keterangan seperti loudly, fluently, carelessly, fast, dsb.
