It can be used to describe the qualities of


someone or something independently or in
comparison to something else.

They express how the person feels about something (generally describe emotions).

e.g.
I was so bored in that lesson, I almost fell asleep.

He was surprised to see Juanito after all those years.

She was really tired and went to bed early.


ADJECTIVES WITH -ING

They are used to describe the person or thing which produces the feeling (generally describe the thing
that causes the emotion).

e.g.

Have you seen that film? It's really frightening.

I could listen to her for hours. She's so interesting.

I can't sleep! That noise is really annoying!


PARAPHRASING
§ It means putting someone else’s ideas into
your own words.

§ keeps your own voice front and centre.

HOW TO PARAPHRASE
1. Include the relevant information.
2. Give a clear idea.
3. Keep the meaning of the sentence.
4. Restructure the selected information into your
own words.
5. Review to make sure the original ideas are still
in tact.

classmate can find within the sentence.

5. That Dracula film was absolutely terrific.
6. We had nothing to do. We were really boring.
