Keymaker

KeyMaker is freeware that allows users to generate secure passwords from phrases and other parameters. Version 1.5 adds the ability to generate multiple passwords from a text file containing usernames. It separates the generated password from the username with a colon. Users can specify the password length and whether to include digits. KeyMaker requires only a phrase to generate passwords and stores minimal information to allow remembering phrases and usernames between sessions.

Changes in version 1.5

----------------------

Allows creation of multiple passwords for a list of

usernames from a text file.

Create a text file containing a list of usernames/logins

(one per line). Use the button labelled <m> to open the
text file. KeyMaker will create passwords for each
username and append it with a ':' in between.

You can make the phrase and the optional parameter part
of the input file by seperating each parameter with a |.

For example, an input file containing

Hello World|softnik.com|guest
Hello World|microsoft.com|john
Happy New Year|register.com|jane

will create

Hello World|softnik.com|guest:ez8gif2egf
Hello World|microsoft.com|john:5n7k50mh73
Happy New Year|register.com|jane:szp7kdtcub

In the example above for the third entry

Happy New Year is the phrase

register.com is the optional parameter
jane is the login

the created password is szp7kdtcub

Using KeyMaker
--------------

KeyMaker allows you to convert a phrase into a secret

password. Create and use as many complicated passwords as
you like without having to worry about forgetting passwords.

'KeyMaker' requires a key phrase. This can be anything that

you will always remember. The password is created from this
phrase. Additionally you can specify two more parameters.
These include an optional 'Other Information' and a user login
name. Please note that the generated pass word is dependent
on these parameters also. Just experiment with KeyMaker for
5 minutes and you will become an expert.

You can also specify the number of characters in the password

and also if digits are allowed. A different password is
generated for the same key phrase with the digits option
turned on.

'KeyMaker' is a single Windows EXE file and requires no run

time DLLs other than those already present as part of Windows.

Changes in Version 1.3

----------------------

Added a confirmation dialog before wiping the drop down lists.

(Thanks to Jeff White for suggesting this)

Changes in Version 1.2

----------------------

Facility to include a set of user specified characters

like $,&,#,!, etc.

Type in the special characters (that should be present in the

password) in the box to the right of the 'Special Characters'
check box.

The up/down box next to the 'special character' entry box

specifies the minimum number of special characters that
should be present in the password.

Important
---------

If you use special characters, please remember exactly

what you typed in the 'special characters' box. If you
change the entry the generated password will also change.
The program automatically remembers the entry in the box.
So it is better not to edit or remove it.

Note
====

All versions of KeyMaker will create the same password for

a specfic input condition. For example if you choose not to
specify the special characters, the passwords generated by
v1.2 for a given phrase (and other parameters) will be
exactly same as that generated by v1.1 or v1.0.

This means that you can continue to download and use future
versions of KeyMaker without worrying about compatibility.

Changes in version 1.1

----------------------
[1]Optional facility to make the phrase, extra parameter and
login information be remembered in the drop down list boxes.
Note that this is not very secure if others have acces to
your computer. You may wipe these information from the
dropdown boxes (and also from registry) using the Wipe Lists
button.

[2]Minimize the program to system tray.

[3]Specify that the program runs automatically when Windows

starts (right click the tray icon)

[4]Minimize to tray at startup (right click the tray icon)

[5]Help button
