Welcome to the English 3 Self-Learning Module (SLM) on Using Plural Form of


Irregular Nouns

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators both
from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping
the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming
their personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent

to help you identify, give and use the plural form of irregular nouns
in a sentence. The scope of this module permits it to be used in
many different learning situations. The language used recognizes
the diverse vocabulary level of students. The lessons are arranged
to follow the standard sequence of the course.

What is It

Not all nouns can simply be added with –s or –es to show that it is
plural. There can be some nouns that change its spelling when
changing into plural form. These nouns are called irregular plural
nouns or plural form of irregular nouns.

One Saturday morning, I went to the market. While I
was walking, I saw many policemen running after a three
men.
I asked the vendors what was it, then they answered,
the three men have to be arrested because they were a
thieves. Then I continued walking and some children
followed me and tried to sell cakes cut into halves but I
refused. Until I reached my destination where I bought the
things that I wanted to buy.
