PURPOSIVE COMMUNICATION
Lesson 1
Activity 1 : WHAT I KNOW
1. LINGUISTIC – (DELIVERY OF SPOKEN OR WRITTEN TEXT (TONE)).

Activity 2 : IT MAKES SENCE

1. WHAT IS THE MESSAGE?
-The TV advertisement I watched had the message “The Heart of the Pilipino” because it
demonstrated how different Filipinos are from other people in that they are kind, loving, caring,
and cheerful.
2. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE MESSAGE?
-The message in the TV commercial I saw is intended to encourage customers to return as a
result of the kindness offered to them, preventing them from becoming irritated or upset with
them for doing so.
3. HOW IS THE MESSAGE CONVEYED BY THE TEXT/ OR VIDEO?
-The television commercial, which conveys its message through text or video, demonstrates
how Filipinos can treat passengers with courtesy and respect.
4. WHAT DID YOU FEEL WHILE AND AFTER WATCHING THE COMMERCIAL? CITE THE SCENE/S
THAT ELICITED THE FEELINGS THAT YOU’VE MENTIONED?
-I became a proud and joyful Filipino after viewing the TV commercial because I noticed
that they had positive thoughts for fellow human beings that boarded a flight.
5. WHAT IS THE TARGET AUDIENCE OF THE MESSAGE?
-The Filipinos are the intended audience, and the message is about how they treat
passengers with courtesy, respect, and deference.
6. WHAT MODES WERE USED IN PRESENTING THE MESSAGE?
-Because I saw all the modes in the TV commercial I watched, the linguistic, visual,
gestural, aural, and spatial modes were used to convey the message.
7. DO YOU THINK IT EFFECTIVELY INTEGRATES THE DIFFERENT MODES IN CONVEYING ITS
MESSAGE?
-Yes, several methods are used to effectively deliver the idea because the TV commercial
does so in a clear manner.

Activity 3 : FIGURE IT OUT!
TEXT 1
A.ANALYZE THE CONTEXT OF THE PICTURE ABOVE USING THE KEY CONCEPT QUESTIONS?
-The context of the picture the international arrivals is about the misunderstanding due to
differing conceptions which met thanks to globalization. It fails to represent the entirely of
reality as people visiting others nation rarely are unprepared to communicate in an
international level.
There is a lack in understanding in the text; a translator or someone who have
sociolinguistics competence should have been present for the people to understand one
another.
B. PRESENT YOUR IMAGE EVALUATION THROUGH AN ORÀL PRESENTATION.

-Based on what I see, it seems like they don’t understand each other because their
comments are different, also based on what I see, they are from different places or nations and
visit the same place where they met at international arrivals and didn’t understand their
arguments.

WHICH TWO OF THE FIVE MODES ARE REPRESENTED IN THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLE?
-Two of the five modes are represented in the following is Linguistics, Visual, Spatial and
Gestural because it shows misunderstanding.
WHICH ONE OF THE FIVE MODES IS MOST APPARENT WHEN ONE LOOKS AT THE SYDNEY
OPERA HOUSE?
-The Sydney Opera House is a classic of 20th-century design, making the spatial mode—of
the five—the most obvious. Its unique design and construction, outstanding engineering
accomplishments and technological innovation, and status as a well-known architectural
symbol all contribute to its prominence.

1. IS THE MESSAGE? WHAT IS THE PURPOSE?
-Dengvaxia is manufactured into a lethal medicine that people are unaware of, hence
the message is to make everyone aware of or demonstrate this.
It aims to spread awareness of dengvaxia across a large audience.
2. IS THE TARGET AUDIENCE?
-Children and mothers are the intended audience; given that dengvaxia is lethal,
mothers should probably be aware of it.
3. WHAT MODES WERE USED IN PRESENTING THE MESSAGE? DID IT HELP BUILD THE
CREDIBILITY OF THE STORY?
-The message is delivered using linguistic, visual, gestural, and spatial forms.
Yes, as the message demonstrates what dengvaxia is and what people should avoid,
which enhances the credibility of the story.
4. DO YOU THINK THIS POST IS TRUE? WHY DO YOU SAY SO?
-I believe that it is true because it would not have spread if it weren’t true, but I also
believe that it may have spread if it turns out that it is not genuine. I sincerely hope that
dengvaxia is not true since it will impact a lot of children.
5. IS THE URL LEGITIMATE?
- No
6. DOES THE POST SEEM ONE SIDED OR BIASED TOWARDS A PARTICULAR POINT OF VIEW?
- This is a one sided post because it only focuses on bashing the vaccine and not
mentioning
Activity 4 : I CAN DO IT
1. - The advice I saw on the internet was to "enjoy life with the best option" because we must
carefully consider the things we do in life in order for them to be successful. Its goal is to help
us understand the effects of the choices we make in life.
2. - People are the message's target audience since we need to make wise judgments for
positive results.
3. - The linguistic modes best convey the message because they focus more on the positive
terms that should be carefully considered before using and that we should enjoy making all of
our life decisions.
4. - I don't think the message I received is misunderstood because, in my opinion, we all need a
good option to make happy and moral decisions in our lives.
