ABSTRACT

Groundwater is the water present beneath earth’s surface in rock and soil pore spaces and
in the fractures of rock formation. About 30 percent of all readily available fresh water.

Ground Water is often cheaper, more convenient and less vulnerable to pollution than
surface water. Therefore,it is commonly used for public water supplies.

In the project we are analysing the ground water in Navsari and b nearby region using few
parameters such as pH,TDS,Iron, arsenic,Nitrate ,sulphate, hardness, Electrical conductivity,.
TSS,DO,BOD,COD etc.

CHAPTER: 1 INTRODUCTION

Design engineering concern the design of product service as well as experience and artifact
reverent to design an enabling modern society and the society of tomorrow.
1. lt develops range of fundamental design and engineering skills with a particular emphasis
on;

2. Creativity

3. Computer aided engineering tools

4. Optimization

5. Human factor and inter praise and their integration in design engineering project.

The engineering design process is a specific set of steps the engineering use to organize their
idea and refined potential solution to engineering challenge

Today we are beginning an engineering design project similar to real world engineering our
project requires strong team works research design building communicate
INTRODUCTION

❖ Freshwater
• Fresh water is found in glaciers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds, rivers, streams,
wetlands and even groundwater.

• These freshwater habitats are less than 1% of the world's total surface area
yet house 10% of all known animals and up to 40% of all known fish
species.Fresh water is vital to life and yet it is a finite resource. Of all the
water on Earth, just 3% is fresh water.

• Although critical to natural and human communities, fresh water is

threatened by a myriad of forces including overdevelopment, polluted
runoff and global warming.

• With this in mind, WWF partners with communities, businesses and others
to decrease pollution, increase water efficiency and protect natural areas to
ensure enough clean water exists to conserve wildlife and provide a healthy
future for all.

Sources of fresh water:

1. River
2. Ground water
3. Rain water
4. Glacier
5. Lake
6. Wet land
7. Oasis
8. Wetlands

❖ Ground water:
• Groundwater is used for drinking water by more than 50
percent of the people in the India, including almost everyone
who lives in rural areas. The largest use for groundwater is
to irrigate crops.

• Groundwater is the water found underground in the cracks

and spaces in soil, sand and rock. It is stored in and moves
slowly through geologic formations of soil, sand and rocks
called aquifers.

• Groundwater can be found almost everywhere. The water

table may be deep or shallow; and may rise or fall depending
on many factors. Heavy rains or melting snow may cause the
water table to rise, or heavy pumping of groundwater
supplies may cause the water table to fall
• Groundwater can be found almost everywhere. The water
table may be deep or shallow; and may rise or fall depending
on many factors. Heavy rains or melting snow may cause the
water table to rise, or heavy pumping of groundwater
supplies may cause the water table to fall.

• Groundwater supplies are replenished, or recharged, by rain

and snow melt that seeps down into the cracks and crevices
beneath the land’s surface. In some areas of the world,
people face serious water shortages because groundwater is
used faster than it is naturally replenished. In other areas
groundwater is polluted by human activities.
