10. (a) An aircraft flies a certain distance on a bearing of 135° and then twice the
distance on a bearing of 225°. If the final distance from the starting point is 350 𝑘𝑚,
find:
(i) the length of the first part of the journey;
(ii) the bearing of the final position from the starting point.
(b) (i) If 𝑥 cos 60° = 1.5 and 𝑦 sin 30° = 2, evaluate √𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 .
