Paragraph 1: Introduce each of your partners (names and nationalities), write some facts about
the cities of origin of your friends and describe the reasons why being a pen pal is a good
experience.

Hello

My name is Mayerly Cardoso Alcalá, I live in the wonderful country of London; It is a very beautiful
place and visited by many tourists.

Today I want to introduce you to my pen pal Angie Vanegas who lives in Canada, I will share with
you some of her customs and places in her country.

She tells me about the beautiful tourist places in her country, such as Niagara Falls, which is one of
the most famous natural attractions in Canada, here you can enjoy camping, long walks in summer
or skiing in winter. Another place of interest is the Banff National Park where we will find Peyto
Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, due to its turquoise blue waters.

This is why having my pen pal is a wonderful reason because it motivates me to get to know your
country, its different rules or cultural traditions, sharing experiences and being able to practice our
English language.

Paragraph 2: Mention some tips to keep in touch with a pen pal, write about some of the
activities done to practice English and how your English has been improving.

We have been friends for 6 months and we know each other through this website "Pen pals in
funnyletters". We have different activities to be in communication, so we have planned once a
week to make video calls through hangouts and prepare different topics to talk about such as
advice, customs, food, among others.

In addition, we have a WhatsApp group and every night we love to tell each other how our day
was and send audio and images about interesting things that we find during the day.

Every week my friend Angie and I send the activities we need to do to improve our English skills: a
book to read, a song to memorize.
You cannot imagine how much our English has improved. Now, we can understand movies and
songs in English and we speak more fluently in English, I really like to share with my friend.

Paragraph 3: Write relevant information about that country, its "cultural blunder" and the
places you will visit if you win the challenge.

When we heard about the challenge suggested by the "Cultural Blunder" website, I started reading
about Canada and I really enjoy its culture. you should know many things before traveling to this
interesting country. Canada has two official languages which are English and French; that the best
time to travel and if our plan is to enjoy the sun and nature is in summer between June and
August.

Something else we should know is that the tipping culture in Canada is not optional, it is a moral
and labor obligation. The police are respected and finally the gastronomic variety is spectacular
with its high-level culinary specialties.

If I win this challenge, I will visit Banff National Park and its majestic Niagara Falls because they
have a variety of entertainment options for all ages, visit all the incredible monuments and enjoy
its gastronomy. I want to win this challenge to learn more about Canadian culture and improve our
English skills.

Angie

Paragraph 1: Introduce each of your partners (names and nationalities), write some facts about
the cities of origin of your friends and describe the reasons why being a pen pal is a good
experience.

Hello my name is Angie Vanegas I am from Canada. Today I am going to tell you about my pen pal
Mayerly is 34 years old and lives in London. London is a large country located in Europe. Also, the
official language of London is English. In terms of infrastructure, London has some of the most
important buildings and monuments; Some of them are: Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, among
others. Mayerly really enjoys visiting and taking photos of these places. She says that she captures
moments, feelings and emotions through those photos.

We know each other pretty well. We have spent time sharing information,
experiences and knowledge about our places of origin. We agree that being a pen
pal goes beyond making friends or sharing information about ourselves. It is
considered a lifestyle, a way to show yourself what you are capable of doing or
learning. Furthermore, we share the same desire which is to learn the English
language in all aspects.

Paragraph 2: Mention some tips to keep in touch with a pen pal, write about some of the
activities done to practice English and how your English has been improving.

Now, we want to share with you some strategies that we implement to continue practicing and
polishing our English language skills. To begin with, What's App was our main tool to keep in touch
with each other. However, due to time zones, we have planned specific times to have video
conferences for our lessons and practice sessions. It is important to mention that we practice
twice a week. This was done with the aim of creating a healthy, comfortable and creative learning
environment. The dynamism of our sessions was quite simple. Each week, each of us had to play
the role of a teacher and choose a particular topic to discuss. This topic could be the one that the
teacher wanted (music, internet, video games, culture, among other topics). Then, in the first
session, the teacher explained, shared and showed videos, information or experiences on that
topic. This was done to acquire specific vocabulary and fluency skills. During the second session,
each of us had to contribute positively to a discussion on the topic chosen by the teacher. We had
to practice our pronunciation and organize our ideas to give assertive and concise knowledge
related to the topic. Most of us really enjoyed our sessions because they dealt with topics that we
knew quite well. The most common topics were video games, Netflix series

Paragraph 3: Write relevant information about that country, its "cultural blunder" and the
places you will visit if you win the challenge.

London would be the perfect destination for me. As you know, the way Londoners speak the
English language is quite different from the way Canadians usually do. This difference is related to
aspects of pronunciation and word meanings. Consequently, this would be a
great opportunity to be exposed to different variations of the English language.
There are a few cultural faux pas that we need to be aware of to be in London.
Once we're in London, we can't forget to behave politely. The British are
obsessed with manners. Consequently, words like: thank you, please, I'm sorry
and excuse me will go a long way in establishing comfortable conversations
there. Being discreet is another aspect to keep in mind in London. Brits hate loud
and brash

people. We really want to be in London. This country offers a wide and varied amount of cultural
aspects, historical monuments, gastronomy and beautiful landscapes. There are many activities
and places that we can admire and visit during our stay in London. We would like to be in
Buckingham Palace, which is one of the most mysterious and attractive monuments not only in
London, but also in the whole world. People often say that they feel unusual vibrations in that
place; this is an interesting and attractive fact for us. We love unusual things, we would like to take
a walk in the charming Hyde Park. There are many unimaginable and enchanting things to discover
and enjoy there. This is an amazing opportunity to hone our English skills while discovering and
learning about a unique British culture.

Cheers,

Angie
