• This document mainly provides the test method using KHT75-3 hydraulic test stand or equivalent.
a When this test is conducted with the KHT75 hydraulic test stand, care should be taken to pre-
vent cavitation (*) in the main pump on the hydraulic test stand side.
* When the main pump supply flow is approximately 160 L/min or more.

• Applicable bench
1) Converted value test: Use Komatsu general-purpose hydraulic test stand (KHT75-3) or equiva-
lent. The input-output shaft drive motor must be changed to a variable motor.
2) Standard value test: Hydraulic test stand having the same performance as the production plant
hydraulic test stand
a Use Komatsu genuine engine oil TO10 or equivalent. Discoloration of oil during test is man-
aged for Class NAS10.

• Scope
This document is adopted for quility verification test of the remanufactured swin motor,
KMVF125ABE/AB-5 (125 cc/rev specifications), which is installed on PC200/220 series-8.

1. Test Method

For this swing motor test, great care should be taken in selecting equipment, device, test jigs and
components.
Also, pay attention to the condition of installation of the pump, hydraulic circuit configuration and
universal joint connection.

The following preparations must be done before Motor without simulataneos bleed

1) Mounting to the Hydraulic Test Stand
Mount the DUT so that its drain port (PD)
may face upward (See Figure 7-2).
a Fix the bolt firmly so that the coupling
does not come off, when connected the
universal joint.
2) Configure piping referencing the hydraulic
circuit. (See Attached diagram 1 and 2)
(1) Whether to provide a simultaneous bleed
control valve to the swing motor hydrau-
lic circuit depends on the presence of a
simultaneous bleed control valve section.

(2) For the port positions, refer to Appendix

a Attached diagrams 1 and 2 assume
the clockwise rotation test of the
swing motor with the simulataneos
bleed control valve. For the counter-
clockwise rotation test, interchange
the PMA and PMB ports connection.
(4) Attach the elbow to the suction port (PS),
then connect the hose so that oil may be
fed to the bench tank (see Figure 7-3).
3) The rotation direction is determined facing
toward the output shaft (M2).
• When flows in from PMA port :
Clockwise rotation (C.W)

4) Feed oil from the DUT drain port (PD) to the case.
This serves for bleeding air in the case, too.
a This operation must not be neglected, oth-
erwise inside the motor can be damaged.
5) Clean the motor assembly then spray the dye
penetrant to respective mating face and the
safety valve mounting position.
6) Set oil temperature of the hydraulic test
stand to 50 ± 5 °C.
7) Drive the DUT at a low speed to check the
rotation direction, flow meter indication and
presence of other troubles.

1-8) Testing Procedure


For detail of the test conditions and applicable standard values, refer to the "Section 3 Performance
Standard Volue Table"
1) Running-in : Check for troubles (in pressure, sound, etc.) and oil leakage during the test.
2) Measurement of Motor Displacement Volume
Under the specified conditions, determine the outlet flowrate (Q) and motor drain volume (EQ) to
calculate the motor displacement volume [qm (cc/rev)].

3) Measurement of Volumetric Efficiency (or Drain Volume)


Connecting the motor to the load, determine the outlet flowrate (Q) and motor drain volume (EQ)
to calculate the volumetric efficiency η (%) or drain volume (L/min).
a Conversion test is employed for the drain volume measurement presented in this example.

4) Check of Torque Efficiency (Measured output shaft torque)


Applying specified load to the motor [Pm (MPa {kg/cm²})], measure the displacement capacity of
the motor [qm (cc/rev)] and the torque level [Tt (Nm{kgm})] to calculate the torque efficiency [ηt
(%)].
a Use the actual measurement value as the displacement capacity of the motor for the calcula-
tion. Refer to 1-8 Section 2) for the calculation formula.

5) Check of Slipping Volume (see Attached Diagram 2)


Close the motor outlet side, than drive the motor from the hydraulic test stand to determine the
output shaft slip volume (revolution Nrpm) under the specified circuit pressure.
a A specified pressure can fluctuate due to the motor rotation, thus you need to control the pressure
so that it may not go beyond the "Set pressure + 0.98 MPa {10 kg/cm²}" level.

6) Check of Swing Brake Torque Capacity


Using the torque wrench, rotate the motor output axis to measure the torque T (Nm [kgm]) at that
time.
a The universal joint should be disconnected before the test.

7) Check of Motor Case Sealing Capacity


Apply pressure (0.5 MPa {5 kg/cm²}) for a specified duration from the motor drain (PD1) side to
check for oil leak or ooze on the following sections:
• Oil seal
• Mating face between the motor case and end housing
a To prevent damage to the oil seal, avoid applying pressure above the specified pressure (0.5 Mpa{5
kg/cm²}).
a Before the test, the universal joint is disconnected and all ports other than the drain port (PD) are
made open.

8) Check for Abnormalities


Check for abnormalities during the test such as heating, vibrations, noise and oil leakage.

1-9) Operations required after the test


When removing and restoring the DUT after the test, the following operations are required.
1) Drain residual oil inside the DUT, then check if the oil is contaminated by foreign substance.
2) Remove all jigs and parts used in the test.
3) Using nylon plugs or equivalent, close all ports so that entry of dusts may be prevented.
4) Enter the test results to the record sheets and maintain them for later reference (retention period is
three years).

Note 1) This circuit diagram is prepared for the clockwise rotation test of the swing motor without simulataneos bleed control valve. When testing the motor
in counterclockwise rotation, interchange the PMA and PMB ports.

Note 1) Rotation of motor output axis should be driven from the side of hydraulic test stand (same as the pump test). Carry out the test in both clockwise and
counterclockwise rotations.
Note 2) In this circuit diagram, the P MA side is closed but the circuit pressure is set for the P MB side (counterclockwise rotation). Configure the inlet port for
the suction circuit.
a Apply an inflow ressure at 0.05 MPa {0.5 to 1.5 kg/cm²} to PMA side. (By pressurzing the tank of the hydraulic bench.)
