OTHER INFORMATION
… STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITIES:

GENERAL

For obvious health reasons, face masks worn over both the mouth
and nose are required at all times while in class and campus.
Furthermore, University policy forbids consuming food in the classroom
during lectures. You may consume beverages in the classroom on
condition that you do so via a drinking tube of some kind to mitigate the
necessity of removing your face mask while drinking. Thank you for
your cooperation.

It is important to mention that every member of the faculty, staff, and

student body is a safety officer. If you see someone violating the safety
policies and protocols, do the right thing and respectfully ask that they
wear their masks.

OUTSIDE CLASS PREPARATION:

Be informed that, at OZU professors seldom lecture directly from texts.

Rather, we seek to utilize assigned readings and/or cases as a
“launching point” for classroom discussion. This means that the
responsibility of reading and understanding the cases and the assigned
readings falls upon the students. In a 6-credit undergraduate course, it
is expected that students will spend up to 9 hours per week on outside
class preparation activities, which may include reading, independent
research, and team meetings. Should you encounter material that is
unclear or difficult to comprehend, bring your questions to class or meet
me one-on-one for guidance. I am available before or after class,
during office hours, by phone or via a scheduled Zoom call- whatever
works best for you.

FORMAT OF WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS

Unless stated otherwise, the format of all written assignments is as

follows: Double-space, 12-pt., Times New Roman or Cambria font,
justified to the left with 1” margins all around. Documents consisting of
multiple pages shall be numbered in the lower right corner of the page.
All submitted work must include your name, title of assignment and
date in the upper left corner. Note that the only acceptable file formats
for uploading assignments to LMS is Microsoft Word or PDF forms, and
Microsoft PowerPoint. Do not attempt to upload a document in “Pages”,
“Keynote “or any Google Doc- especially one that requires a password
to access. Such attempts will have negative consequences on the
grading of the said assignment.

EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS: ATTACHMENT PROTOCOL

Because a lot of documents will be exchanged, a document labeling
protocol will help keep track of your documents. Please label what you

6
send as follows:

(Your Last Name, First İnitial) underscore ( PROJECT NAME- İN

CAPS) .
For example, if Albert Einstein were to send the report of his team as a
Word file attached to an e-mail, he would name that file as follows:
Einstein, A _TEAM 12 REPORT ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE PLAN
Thinking of your recipient, adopting such protocol for your academic life
would be useful. If your professor were to receive 19 papers on
“Globalization” and all were named simply “Globalization”, he would not
know who is sending what. Also be sure to include your full name and
other relevant, applicable information at the top of the document itself
as specified previously.
LAPTOP AND CELLPHONE POLICIES

Students are expected to always act professionally during lectures,

discussions, presentations, etc. Unless specifically instructed by me,
the use of electronic devices for any purpose unrelated to the
class session is STRICTLY PROHIBITED, e.g., text messaging,
outside chats, emailing, surfing the web, accessing social media
etc. DO NOT be the unfortunate soul who gets asked to leave the
session for sneaking a text message or surfing the web during class.
Note that you will be considered absent if you are asked to leave the
session for any of this prohibited conduct.
