1. General information
This guide will describe the most common operations relevant for your online use of the
Ocean Learning platform.

The Ocean Learning Platform has several functions available, and will be configured
according to your companies need and decisions. Depending on your role or companies
subscription personnel are required to:

• Check Ocean Learning Platform for pending requirements.


• Run scheduled tests and perform required training as soon as possible.

If you want more details regarding any of the subjects in this guide, please click the
HELP icon (?) in the top right hand corner of the screen. Here you will find in depth
information regarding all the functions in the Ocean Learning Platform

2. Logging on to the system

Go to https://app.oceantg.com/

To log into the system, fill in the following fields:

• Company Name: (your company)


• Login: (personal)
• Password; (personal)

When all the information has been entered, click Login.

DO NOT SHARE YOUR PERSONAL LOGIN OR


PASSWORD WITH OTHER USERS.

Forgot you password?


If you have an e-mail address added in the system you can reset the password yourself.
Alternatively - Contact your training manager to reset your password.

Privacy protection policy


Upon first time login, you will be presented with Ocean’s Privacy protection policy. The
terms must be accepted before you can log into the system. Check „I agree to this terms
and conditions” and click Next button.

3. Home dashboard and menu


The Home page is always shown as the first page after logging in, and whenever the
'HOME' button is clicked. The Home page is where you will find training activities that
you are expected to complete, or where you can find training titles that might be of
interest to you and help improve your knowledge.

The dashboards layout will depend on both your company’s configuration and your own
recent use. The page can appear with the following activities:

• Scheduled: contains activity cards for activities which have been scheduled for you to
complete within a set date.
• Continue: all activities which are in progress.
• New: new additions to the Ocean Learning Library for your company.
• Updated: modules in the Ocean Learning Library which been updated.
• Popular: modules which are most frequently run within your Company.

Each section lists clickable activity cards which navigate to the activities individual pages
where more information can be found and where the activity can be started.

The Menu and notifications

The menu will by default be collapsed. Hoover over the sidebar to


open it.

When you are logged in to Ocean Learning Platform please pay


attention to the yellow notifications which indicates that your action
is required. This could for example be a scheduled CES or APRO test,
a company notice you should read and confirm or a report you
requested is ready for download.

4. Required tasks
The Required tasks will provide the overview of all your requirements. Depending on
your company’s set-up it will contain one to several requirement group folders.

The group folders contain requirements according to activity type, and show number of
completed and available requirements. It will also show a progress bar as percentage of
completed requirements, and the status

Click on a group folder to


reveal its contents.

Note, that a group folder can


contain sub group folders or
individual requirements.

Use filters to narrow down the


search for particular
requirements.

5. Ocean Library
From the Ocean Library you can run all titles available for your company regardless of it
being a requirement for you or not. It allows you can explore additional topics.

The library consists of two sections:

• E-learning categories: which includes e-learning modules, Learning films and Pocket
guides grouped in category. The e-learning titles are grouped according to STCW
category
• Activity types: (depending on your company’s set-up) which include Courses, Rapid
e-learning modules and CES tests

Use the filters to narrow down the scope of categories and activities.

6. Searching for a specific activity


Use the Search section to search within Required tasks or within the Ocean Library for
a specific activity or actives related to a topic.

7. Starting an activity
Each Requirement/proficiency you have to complete will contain a requirement details
page with an activity card.

Depending on the Activity type the Requirement details contains relevant Guidelines and
info about how to complete the requirement. The blue information box shows
elementary information about the requirement and its status, including any coming
expiry dates (if relevant).

Click the Activity to see the activity details and start required activity to complete the
requirement.

Please check out the HELP section for more details regarding how to run and complete
the different activity types.

Example – Run e-learning activity


Click ‘Start this activity’ to launch the e-learning player. If the module offer multiple
languages, you can chose this in the module menu. It is not possible to change language
during the session.

If you need to stop training mid-lesson, you can save your progress and continue later.

Example – Company Specific Training (CST)


Personnel may be required to attend Company specific training (CST) such as fire drill,
life boat drills or other group training sessions while on board.

Personnel cannot register Company specific training sessions themselves. The 'Training
registration' can only be done by vessel administrators or office administrators.

8. Profile
The profile page shows you how you are progressing through your training and gives you
access to your personal information and settings.

Most of the personal details can only be changed by an administrator. Please notify your
superior if some of your personal details are wrong. Non-mandatory fields may be empty.

• Status; your completion rate


• Schedule; if in use - The Schedule tab displays a list of requirements and enrolments,
sorted according to deadline.
• Requirements; All training requirements you have to do.
• Records; the 'Records' tab shows all training activities you have performed
historically.
• Requirement simulation: In the 'Requirement simulation' tab you can simulate for
proficiencies required for the future, e.g. the next months on board, or proficiencies
required for a different rank or installation type.
Assignments; shows where the individual is (current installation) and has been.

9. Reports
Click the 'Reports and statistics' section menu and select 'Reports'.
The report selector will appear showing all the available reports for your company.

1. Click a report to start.


2. Read the description to verify it is what you are
looking for, and then click 'Generate'.
3. Review if you want to make particular settings for
the report by choosing from the different
dropdowns, and then click 'Request for new
report'.

When it the report is finished you can download it


from the 'Report manager' under the Task and
Notification section.

Some useful reports:

• 03 Selected person reports


• Detailed E-learning report for selected person
o This prints a “Verification of Training” per module
• Requirement status for selected person
• Detailed CST (company specific training) report for selected person

10. How to use the HELP system


The help section can be accessed at any time by clicking on the help icon (?) located in
the right hand side of the top bar. It will be open in a new browser tab.

Use the Search text field to search for content. Or use the Left index to click on any
index item to quickly access the pages based on the subject.
