PERSONAL STATEMENT
As a highly motivated, adaptable, and award winning FCMA and MBA with a broad suite of financial,
commercial, and HR-focused skills, I am now ripe for a move into a senior leadership role. With senior-
level financial acumen and proven people-focused operational leadership, I have the both the vocational
passion and technical skills to bring fresh and interesting perspectives to any organization. My career thus
far has enabled me to become highly adaptable and I have honed my competencies across settings as
diverse as strategic military headquarters, the United Nations, Scout Groups, Sixth Form Colleges,
Children’s Nurseries, and even a number of my own small companies.
EDUCATION
I maintain high levels of CPD and, in addition to sitting on the CIMA Professional Standards Committee, I
am qualified in PRINCE2 at Practitioner level. I also have graduated with an MBA at Henley Business
School and occasionally present at international accountancy summits. I am currently studying for an MSc
in Leadership.
Most importantly, however, I actively seek out volunteer opportunities in the community to practise and
develop my soft skills. These include, but are not limited to: mentoring underperforming male students at a
local Sixth Form at which I was previously a Governor; leading a turnaround at a local Scout Group as
Group Chairman and, more recently, as the Group Scout Leader; and creating a successful community
running club for those new to running, which now has 700 members and well over 100 regular participants.

investment appraisals to ministerial level; capability to perform effectively under pressure; leading in
culturally diverse environments.
Acting as the delivery phase of my MBA dissertation, I have recently been invited to take on the role of
Mentor to a group of underperforming male students who are struggling to cope with academic life at the
College.
1st Chandlers Ford Scout Group – Chairman/Group Scout Leader. May 2017 to present.
I was approached become the Chairman of a failing local Scout Group in May 2017. In a short time, I have
delivered several early wins including: a reinvigorated and empowered committee; a rapid surge in
numbers of young people attending due to overhaul and leveraging of IT and social media; a number of
new Scout Leaders; as well as the instigation of a number of high profile events. I have since assumed the
role of Group Scout Leader.
Poppins Early Learning Ltd – Managing/Finance Director. January 2012 to December 2012.
As an adjunct to my primary career, and following the success below, I was approached by the overseas
owner to undertake a temporary appointment to avert an imminent liquidation and staff walk-
out. After rapid upturn in performance following my intervention, the business was saved and returned to
profitability.
On my arrival at my Regiment on Thorney Island, the Garrison Nursery was identified as being
bankrupt. Within three weeks, I singlehandedly developed a salvage package and implemented the new
business model that saved £7K per month. To enable success, I devised the new package to give an
hourly rate pay rise to the employees and took personal responsibility for briefing the changes to the staff.
The measures saved the nursery, which continues to grow strongly.
Barton Peveril Sixth Form College – Governor (Finance). September 2006 to November 2009.
I sat on the Main Board and the Financial Monitoring Group and oversaw a period of internal restructure
and a significant new capital build programme. The College, and students, have benefitted significantly
from the latter of these initiatives.
