CARIBBEAN SHIPPING ASSOCIATION – MONICA SILVERA

SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: All undergraduate students at the Caribbean Maritime University, preference given
to final year students.

Value: US$2,500.00

Requirements:

AMERICAN CARIBBEAN MARITIME FOUNDATION – FERN KHAN GRANT

Eligibility: Returning students registered in undergraduate programmes

Value: US$750 – US$1,000 payable for one academic year. Grant covers related educational expenses,
including boarding and auxiliary fees, uniform, transportation and meals. Grants will be offered to
students with good academic standing and compelling financial need.

The are various tuition scholarships at varying values. A webinar is scheduled for March 14, 2022, to
further discuss scholarships. Visit the ACMF jobs board for details regarding employment.

Requirements:
• Be a Caribbean national.
• Enrolled full-time or part-time at the CMU in an undergraduate degree programme.
• 2.8 GPA in the academic year prior to application.
• Of good character and display leadership qualities.
• Involvement in extracurricular activities (providing documentary proof).

GRACE KENNEDY FOUNDATION BURSARY

Eligibility: Full-time, Final Year Logistics Students


Value: Up to maximum of $150,000.00 (Tuition Only)
Requirements:
• Must a Jamaican.
• Have an average of 3.0 GPA or above.
• On the first day of May in the year of the application, the candidate shall not be over the age of
24 years.
• Be a person of good character, displaying leadership qualities and consistent involvement in
social/community activities.
• Having completed and submitted The Grace Kennedy/CMU Final Year Scholarship application
form by July 15th.

NEW FORTRESS ENERGY SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Full-time students from the parishes of St. Catherine, Kingston, Clarendon or St. James
(Montego Bay)
Value: US$250,000.00
Requirements:
• Must be under the age of 25 years old.
• Have an average of 3.0 GPA or above.
• Application should accompany: CMU application form and acceptance letters, one (1) page essay
on student’s educational goals, high school transcript or CMU transcript, two (2) character
reference letters, certified birth certificate or registration certificate.
• Be a person of good character, displaying leadership qualities and consistent involvement in
social/community activities.
• Should not be a holder of any other scholarship covering tuition costs.
• Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a Joint Committee of CMU and NFE.

SAGICOR FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS – SAGICOR GROUP

Eligibility: Undergraduate students at any year

Value: J$300,000.00

Requirements:

• Must be a Jamaican citizen


• Must maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 20 hours of voluntary service annually.
• Be a client of any Sagicor Group Jamaica subsidiaries (Sagicor Life, Sagicor Bank, Sagicor Investments)
• Have a letter of acceptance to an undergraduate degree programme in Jamaica.
• Demonstrate high academic performance (GPA, CXC, CAPE, etc.)
• Show strong leadership traits and spirit of volunteerism and involvement (e.g. Membership in an
established youth club).
• Maintain full-time student status during the duration of the programme.

EMBASSY OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: All undergraduate students at the Caribbean Maritime University, preference given to final year

Value: J$1,000,000.00 shared equally among the five (5) selected students

Requirements:
• Caribbean national
• Must be accepted to the CMU.
• Must be of good character, displaying leadership qualities and consistent involvement in
social/community activities.
The CMU shortlists ten (10) students and then Embassy select the five (5) recipients.

Eligibility: Final year students except those pursuing Engineering.

Eligibility: Tertiary-level students who live within the areas surrounding J. Wray & Nephew Limited’s
operations at Spanish Town Road in Kingston, New Yarmouth in Clarendon, and Appleton Estate, in St
Elizabeth.

• Maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Canadian and Jamaican Bursary Criteria and Conditions

Founded in 2011, S.M.I.L.E (single mothers inspiring leadership in education) is a registered


Canadian non-profit organization that helps low-income, single mothers improve their lives
through education in the greater Toronto area (GTA) and abroad by partnering with community
organizations.

Eligibility: Low-income single mothers in Jamaica and Canada pursuing post-secondary education, a
qualification upgrade, diploma or certificate course.

Value: Maximum of CAN$1,000.00

M.O.E.Y.I – MSTVETT SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Full-time Engineering students.

Value: Covers tuition, misc. fees for the duration of the programme and an annual book grant of

• Must be a Jamaican national accepted to or registered in an undergraduate programme.


• First year students must have at least five (5) subjects in CXC/GCE examination (including
Mathematics and English Language. Students with CAPE Units 1 and 2 will have an advantage.
• Returning students (second year ONLY) must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Be no older than 35 years old.

Eligibility: PATH beneficiaries accepted to or attending accredited tertiary institutions

Value: $100,000.00 (renewable)

• Letter of acceptance from the institution where the candidate is expected to continue his/her studies
from first year students.

• Maintain a GPA of 2.5 for 2nd to 4th year of study.

• Returning students must have a minimum GPA of 2.2 to be considered.

• Must not be benefiting from any other government funded tuition assistance programme.

Eligibility: Full-time, first time undergraduate students who qualify for admission but are financially
challenged.

Value: 30% of Tuition (Tuition must not exceed $350,000).

Requirements:
• Must be a Jamaican national

• First time undergraduate student who is willing to serve

• Must be between the ages of 18-35 on or before December 31 within the year of application.

• Must be unemployed.

• Attending or accepted to a tertiary institution approved by the UCJ.

The Marcus Garvey Public Sector Graduate Scholarship Programme – 30 graduate
