Eating well is a lifestyle. It helps us avoid many diseases. Our body needs a variety
of nutrients to grow strong and healthy. These nutrients are provided by the
different food groups. There should be a balance among all the food we eat. With a
careful food selection, we can get all the nutrients we need while we enjoy a variety
of food and still maintain a healthy body weight.
A balanced diet gives your body the nutrients it needs to function correctly. The
food
groups that provide these nutrients are:

When we are young, we don´t care that much about what we eat and drink, maybe
because we think we are going to be young forever. However, having bad nutrition
can bring serious consequences not only for our physical health but also for our
mental health.
WHAT CAUSES…
Obesity: It is generally caused by eating too much, moving too little and consuming
junk food, soda, drinks, fat, and sugar.
Diabetes: It happens when you eat too much sugar, such as soda and drinks.
High blood pressure: It happens when you eat food with too much oil or fat.
The best way to avoid these diseases is by eating healthy food. Stay heathy.
There are some diseases that are caused by bad nutrition such
as: heart diseases, obesity, high blood pressure, stroke,
diabetes. The best way to avoid these diseases is by eating
healthy food and exercising.

A LONGER LIFE
I love to visit my granny Elisa. She is a very wise
woman. Even though she is 90 years old, she is very
healthy and professionally active.
When we are together, she always tells me her stories,
and gives me advices about how to have a long and
happy life. She says there are some things she always
does to be mentally and physically healthy. First, she
says it is necessary to eat healthy food and avoid junk
food. My granny doesn´t eat outside. She always cooks
her meals and eats them at the same time every day.
Second, she always sleeps 8 hours a day, and if she
can, she takes some naps during the day. Third, she
exercises regularly, she said that when she was young,
she was a soccer player. Can you imagine? Finally, she
says she always visits her doctor to prevent diseases
and control any health condition.
My granny says that If I do all these things and laugh all the time, I will keep
healthy and fit and I will have a good performance at school or job. Definitely, I am
going to follow her advice. When I grow up I hope to be as healthy and active as
my granny.
