CHAPTER 3

INTRODUCTIONS

This chapter of research, mehodologies. Reveals the methods to be used or employed

by the researchers by conducting our study entitled 'Viewpoints on the parental influence and
learner's career path' which includes the the research design, Respondents and Sampling
Procedure or population of the study, Research instruments, Collection of Data and Analysis of
Data.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The researchers will be using a descriptive type of method in acquiring the

objectives of the study. Descriptive method will help the study in terms of the collection
of data to fully answer the present subject of the study itself. Questions in a descriptive
method will always be raised and should be answered together with the supporting and
efficient knowledge or fact about the study. Descriptive method in a research answer
questions starting with who, what, where, when and how. This type of method has the
best permit to the attachment of the study’s objectives.

RESPONDENTS AND SAMPLING PROCEDURES

Our research study 'Viewpoints on the parental influence and learner's career
path in Malinao National High School' will target the Students of Senior High School
levels in Malinao National High School. It will also involve the teachers from the same
level mentioned, as we, the researchers also have to collect data or response from not
just only students but from also the respected educators. And the researchers will
gather their respective opinions or viewpoints about the parental influence and learner's
career path . Our goal is to gather atleast hundred of response from Malinao National
High School.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS

Admittedly, as fun as spontaneous interviews may seem to be, some level of

preparation must be put into it. That is, the questions the research intend to ask
respondents should be prepared beforehand in the form of an interview schedule or guide. An
interview guide is a list containing a set of questions that have been prepared, to serve as
a guide for researchers in collecting information or data about a specific topic. An interview
guide is the easiest data collection instrument to use, particularly the semi-structured –
contains questions that are loosely structured to give 5 participants more opportunities to
express themselves fully. Using an interview guide is easy for the following reasons.

COLLECTION OF DATA

The process of data collection will be done through survey questionnaire as

it is stated in the research instrument. The data collection instruments highlighted in the
previous section, I find the documentary analysis guide, which is used in
documentary analysis, the most challenging to use. Be definition, a documentary
analysis guide prescribes a systematic procedure for reviewing or evaluating
documents – both printed and electronic materials – to generate evidence to address
a research problem .The researchers is required to form a request letter to be
distributed to those respondents before the distribution of those survey questionnaires.
The survey questionnaire copies will be delivered personally by the researcher to the
selected students in Malinao National High School. This will be done through one-on-
one dispersion of survey questionnaires to the respondents. The explained details in the
research instrument will help the respondents to answer the questionnaire and
supporting facts and information about the topic will also be provided along with the
questionnaire. A duration of at least two days will be given to the respondents to answer
those questions from the distributed questionnaires.

ANALYSIS OF DATA
Descriptive Analysis is the type of analysis of data that helps describe, show
or summarize data points in a constructive way such that patterns might emerge that
fulfill every condition of the data. We will conduct an interview to the respondents and
the answer or result will be transcribed, once the data was transcribed it was then
analysed, interpreted and verified. The process of transcribing the interviews can help
the researcher to gain more understanding the subject from repeatedly listening and
reading the transcribed interviews. The data was then analyzed, categorized and
organized. The next stage involved interpreting the data by identifying and highligting
any similarities and differences in the data. The final stage involved verification, this
process involve a process of checking validity of understanding by rechecking the
transcripts.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA

The statistical procedure will be used in gathering data from the

respondents of the study.

Percentage
To answer the statement of problem number 1 the researcher will use the Simple
Percentage formula to analyze the demographic profile variables of the respondents.

Formula:
P=f/n × 100

Where:

P = Percentage

F = Frequency for each category

N = Total number of respondents

100 = Constant multiplier
