    TEST FOR ANTIBODIES TO HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV) TYPE


    1/TYPE 2
    HIV (CMIA) 0.08 S/CO Non - reactive : <1.0
    Non-Reactive Reactive : >=1.0

    Note: 1. This is a screening test for HIV I and II antibodies.


    2. HIV (CMIA) method detects HIV I and II antibodies and HIV p24
    antigen.
    3. A single result is not always indicative of disease and hence it has to
    be correlated clinically.
    4. Non-Reactive result does not always eliminate the risk of HIV
    infection. It implies that no Anti HIV –I or Anti HIV – II antibodies have
    been detected in this sample by this method. A window phase
    (seroconversion) may be upto 12 weeks after infection.
    5. Reactive result suggests the possibility of HIV infection. False
    positive reaction are also seen in other diseases. It is recommended to
    confirm a positive result by alternate method like Western Blot /HIV
    RNA PCR.
    6. Indeterminate test to be confirmed by Western Blot/HIV RNA PCR.
