Abstract – This research is a summary of previous researchers work done in this area .
This paper gives us an insight about the various work carried on strengthening of structural elements like slab and beam. Retrofitting of
structural elements by fibre reinforced polymers have been extensively used in the civil engineering field by the present industry. Fibres
like glass, carbon, basalt and polypropylene have been used in the study.[23]

In existing buildings, it is common to create openings in slabs due to service supplies. In this case, the mechanical properties of slabs
remarkably reduce, and strengthening must be applied. Therefore, this investigation proposed four methods to retrieve the lost
mechanical characteristics of slabs owing to openings. Six reinforced concrete slabs were prepared with similar dimensions, 1300 _
1300 _ 120 mm .[24]
