Exsultet - Short Form

This document provides the text and musical notation for a short responsive Exsultet, or Easter Proclamation, sung in two sections. It imitates the tones of the longer Exsultet form, with a response following the first section and completing the musical tone. The prayer can be sung by a single cantor rather than responsively. Common Worship Exsultet, Form 2: A short responsive Exsultet

The two tones of the long form of the Exsultet are imitated here. The melody of the response in the first
section is based on the optional response in the long form; the melody of the response in the second
section simply completes that tone. So the response cannot be omitted from this form of the Exsultet,
but the prayer can simply be sung throughout by a single cantor, rather than as a ‘response.’
