    Jenis Kata Ganti

    1. Orang (personal): I, you, he, she, we, they


    2. Tanya (interrogative): who (untuk orang), what (untuk benda), which
    (untuk plilihan orang atau benda)
    3. Penghubung (relative): who (untuk orang), which (untuk benda), that
    (untuk orang atau benda)
    4. Penunjuk (demonstrative): this, that, such, so
    5. Refeksif (reflexive): kata ganti orang majemuk ditambah –self
    6. Tak tentu (infinitive):
    a. Orang atau benda: kata majemuk dengan some-, any-, no-, atau
    every- ditambah –body, -one, -thing.
    b. Kuantitas: some, any, several, much, dsb.
    (Kata ganti orang, penghubung, penunjuk, refleksif mengacu kembali
    pada kata benda yang disebutkan sebelumnya).
    7. Ekspletif (expletive): it, there (kata-kata ini mengisi posisi subjek. Subjek
    yang sebenarnya ditempatkan sesudah kata kerja).
    LATIHAN

    A. Gunakan bentuk yang tepat dari kata ganti di dalam kurung. Berikan
    fungsi tiap kata ganti – subjek (S), pelengkap subjektif (PS), objek kata
    kerja (OKK), objek kata depan (OKD).

    Contoh:

    a. John and (I) I are the same age. (S)


    b. The only two who were absent were John and (I) I . (PS)
    c. Our teacher praised John and (I) me . (OKK)
    d. The letter was addressed to John and (I) me . (OKD)

    1. The money was given to (he) __________ and (I) __________.


    2. Their mother is taking (they) __________ all to the circus.
    3. Everyone finished the test except (I) _________.
    4. All of (they) _________ came late.
    5. My sister and (I) __________ are arriving on the early train.
    6. Between (you) _________ and (I) _________, she’s not very happy in her
    new home.
    7. It was (I) __________ who planned this meeting.
    8. Hello, may I speak to Mrs. Jones? This is (she) _________.
    9. They wanted only Robert and (I) _________.
    10.(She) _________ and her sister are planning to give a dinner party together.

    B. Isilah dengan salah satu dari bentuk kepunyaan kata ganti atau who.
    Jangan gunakan apostrofi untuk kata ganti ini.

    Contoh:

    a. Hi didn’t bring a coat, so I lent him (I) _mine_.


    b. The store is opening (it) its door one hour earlier today.
    c. (Who) whose book is this? I don’t know (who) whose book it is.

    Who vs. whom

    Who adalah bentuk subjek, whom adalah bentuk objek. (Dalam pemakaian
    informal, who sering pula digunakan untuk objek kata kerja.)

    Who atau whom muncul di dalam pertanyaan langsung, di dalam pertanyaan


    tak langsung (klausa kata benda), dan di dalam klausa kata sifat.

    C. Isilah dengan who atau whom. Cantumkan (S) untuk Subjek, (OKK) untuk
    Objek Kata Kerja, atau (OKD) untuk Objek Kata Depan sesudah tiap kata
    ganti yang anda isikan.

    Contoh:

    b. Whom do you want? (OKK)
    c. From whom did he get the money? (OKD)
