I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
a) Identify parts of the plant and its function;
b) label the parts of the plant; and
c) Appreciate the importance of plants to our life.
Materials: Parts of the Plant chart, laptop, worksheets, projector, PowerPoint presentation.
III. PROCEDURE:
A.
A. Preparatory Activities
The teacher greets the learners, asks a learner to pray and ask them to keep away
unnecessary things under their desks.
B. Health Inspection
Asks the group leader of each group to help the teacher to check or inspect the nails of their
group mates. The teacher asks the following:
a. Why is it important for us to check our nails or other parts of our body?
b. What is the best thing that we should do every day?
C. Checking of Assignment
The teacher asks the learners to bring out their assignment and pass it forward and the
teacher will be the one to check it.
B. Review
As for the review of the past lesson, the teacher will ask the following questions:
a. What was our lesson last Friday?
b. What are the basic needs of the animals?
c. What will happen to the animals if they are not provided with these needs?
C. Motivation
The teacher asks the learners to sing a song titled “Plant Part Song” and asks the questions:
a. What is the song all about?
b. Based on the song that we sing, what do plants have?
c. What are those parts?
d. What do you think is our topic for today?
D. Presentation/Discussion
Before the discussion, the teacher will give reminders to the learners such as;
1. Listen to teacher
2. Always keep quiet
3. Raise your right hand if you have questions
4. Sit properly
5. Eyes on teacher
Roots – hold the plant to the soil. They absorb or get water and minerals from the soil. They store or
keep the extra food made by the plant.
Stem – holds the leaves, flowers and roots of the plant. They give passage way of water and minerals to
go up from the roots to the leaves and other parts of the plants.
Leaves – make the food for the plant. The leaves are the most important part of the plant. Without
green leaves, a plant cannot make food for its growth.
Flowers – are the most attractive part of a plant. They have different colors and odors. The flower
helps the plant to make seeds.
Fruit - hold the seed of the plant. Some fruits are big while others are small. Fruits have different
shapes too. They are differ in colors, smell, and taste. Some are sweet while others are sour.
E. Enrichment Activity
The teacher will instruct the learners to pick one picture of different kinds of plants inside
the box and answer the table by putting check in each column if the plant has the
corresponding part.

F. Generalization
The teacher asks the learners the following questions:
a. Based on the activity you have done, what did you learn?
b. What are the parts of a plant and its function?
G. Application/ Valuing
The teacher asks one of the learners to read a problem ask the learners the following
questions:
a. If there are no plants, can we live?
b. What happen to us if there are no plants on earth?
c. What should we do with the plants around us?
Group Activity
The teacher will group the learners into three (3), each group will be given different
activity and answer within five (5) minutes.
