Zimbabwe is a 1979 song by Bob Marley that critiques the struggle for freedom in Zimbabwe. The song uses lyrics like "Every man gotta right to decide his own destiny" to advocate that people have the power to choose their own lives and futures. While some may try to impose their will on others, the song says people must "fight for our rights" and not give up the fight for independence and determining their own destiny, which the song represents through the black, green, and gold colors of Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe, a critique of the rhythm of freedom

By: Jahaira Caicedo Cuellar

Zimbabwe, is a song performed in English, from the year 1979, from the album
"Survival" performed by musician Bob Marley, its genres are Reggae (mainly), Ska
and Rocksteady.

Zimbabwe, is a critical song to the rhythm of freedom that shows a multicolored

variety, which makes it full of feelings dressed in colors such as: freedom, power and
the feeling of fighting so that every man and woman knows that in his life There are
more than two paths, that is, more than being one step away from freedom or being
one step away from slavery, it is a simple act of deciding, as this excerpt from the
song says "Every man gotta right to decide his own destiny" that is, every man has in
his hands the power to choose his life or the destiny he desires.

However, this freedom or this destiny is sometimes subjected to trials, where some
cruel men playing God want to choose for others, however, the song also says "No
more internal power struggle - We come together to overcome the little trouble", "
'Cause I don't want my people to be contrary" and say "We'll have to fight (we gon'
fight), fighting for our rights", that is, your mind was opened to the understanding that
you have the right to decide about your life, then you will fight for it, you will not give
up, because your future and that of your future generations depend on it, come on,
do not give up, your will not give up, I will continue fighting, brother, because it is
your destiny and for him fought.

Therefore, I can say that this song is the sonnet of some colors that they claimed,
that today they claim and will continue to claim, the sonnets of their independence,
which are, black that represents its people, green that represents the richness and
majesty of its earth and the golden that represents a new beginning, a new day when
the sun rises with such impetus and splendor. Which surrounds their homeland with
the sound of their freedoms as men and women who direct their destiny.
