Thank you for choosing an A2B Electronics product. We have made every

The ESA-110 and the ESA-111 are high quality Professional Digital Satellite
Receivers intended for use in any Cable-TV or SMATV head end. All functions
are integrated in an extremely compact unit that easily can be mounted in
different ways.
ESA-110 and ESA-111 incorporates Multi-CA capability (for ESA-110,
embedded Conax, embedded NDS Videoguard and Common Interface. For
ESA-111; embedded Conax and Common Interface) and a high quality DSB
modulator for direct connection to a CATV/SMATV network. The ESA-110 and
the ESA-111 can easily be connected to the CATV modulators EVA-200 and
EVA-210.

This manual describes the installation and settings of the unit.

The unit comes with all necessary installation files for operation with either
a PC or PALM PDA and should require no additional software for set up and
control.

This section describes how to make a quick installation following the step by
step instructions below.
See to that the control software files delivered on the CD-ROM are loaded into
the PALM. For more information on how this is done, please consult your
PALM user manual.

1. Connect the ESA-110/111 to a DC power supply (the ESP-100 or EPP-100).

Then connect your PALM PDA to the ESA-110/111 with a cable from the
PALM universal connector to the RS-232 serial port on the front of ESA-
110/111.

2. Tap the ESA icon in the A2B Control menu of the PALM.

3. A Welcome menu should appear if your PALM is in contact with the ESA-
110/111. Click [Next].

4. This menu contains settings of the tuner parameters and choice of LNB
type. Enter appropriate values for transponder frequency, symbol rate and
polarization and click [Next].

5. Now choose which service you would like to use. Click [Next].

6. Choose the language of the audio and video streams you want to use. Click
[Next].

7. The installation is now completed and audio and video from the correct
program should be present on the output. Click [Again] if you want to modify
the settings.

8. For advanced settings click [Options] and [Country]

9. Under the menu [Country] you can change the language and regional
settings from the default settings. Click [OK] and then [Receiver].

10. The [Receiver] menu allows you to choose LNB voltage, DiSEqC, and the
IQ convention (non-inverted, inverted or auto). Click [OK] and [Decoder].

11. This menu allows change of embedded CA system. Format conversion for picture
aspect ratio, signalling of picture format (WSS),audio format (stereo or mono) and
teletext subtitling can be selected or switched off. Click [OK] and [Modulator].

Note! ESA-111 does

not have embedded
NDS Videoguard and
thus NDS cannot be
chosen for ESA-111.

12. Under the menu [Modulator] you can change the settings for the internal RF
modulator. With CCIR channel table the channels can be selected directly while other
channel tables require setting of corresponding frequency. Click [OK] and then [CA
module].

13. If a CA-module is inserted into the CA-slot the CA parameters can be read in the
[CA module] menu. Click [Close]. The menu [Software] gives information about the
firmware version that is downloaded into the ESA-110/111. Hardware revision can also
be read. The menu [About] shows information about the control software version. The
[Status] menu gives relevant information about the received signal (BER, C/N and
signal level). The received audio and video formats can also be read as well as
smartcard and CA module status.

This section describes how to make a first time installation for PC following
the step by step instructions below.
See to that the control software files delivered on the CD-ROM are installed on your PC.

1. Connect the ESA-110/111 to a DC power supply (the ESP-100 or EPP-100).

Then connect your PC to the ESA-110/111 with a null modem cable from a serial port on
the PC to the RS-232 port on ESA-110/111.
Choose the correct COM port and press [OK] and following menu should appear.

Note! ESA-111 has only embedded Conax.

Below you find description of the different settings in the main menu.

1. RECEIVER
Choose if you have a fixed or universal LNB. Set the polarisation and if you have a
universal LNB you should let the LNB power be set to auto. Inverted spectrum is
sometimes used in C-band transmissions and can be selected or set to auto detection.
Finally enter the correct transponder frequency and symbol frequency. We suggest that
you consult www.lyngsat.com for correct parameters for the channels you intend to use.
The input level should be higher than -60 dBm, preferably more than -50 dBm and
Eb/N0 should read more than 10. Enter [Program receiver] to program the values
to ESA-110/111.

2. DECODER
The [Service] menu allows you to choose a program from the chosen Multiplex.
Enter also audio and subtitling languages.

3. AUDIO/VIDEO
The video menu allows for setting of transmission standard, picture aspect ratio (4:3,
16:9 or combined 14:9). [WSS] stands for Wide Screen Signalling and is a signal
that is available in the video and signals to each TV-set which aspect ratio the
TV-set should display. This is done automatically by most TV-sets. In the [Teletext]
menu teletext or DVB-subtitling can be selected or disabled.
[Audio] menu allows setting of audio output level and mode (mono, stereo).

4. MODULATOR
In the [Modulator] menu settings of the built in modulator can be done and the
modulator can also be disabled if only the audio and video outputs are used.

5. CA SETTINGS
Information about CA module and embedded CA system can be done in this menu.
Appropriate smart cards needs to be inserted into the corresponding slots.

6. SYSTEM SETTINGS
Set regional settings in this menu. Serial port can also be changed in this menu.

7. FIRMWARE
Click [Firmware] if a new software is available for your ESA-110/111. A dialog box will
open that lets you browse for the firmware file to upgrade your ESA-110/111 with.

8. [i] and [?]

Information and help menus that can be used for details of how to install and
make settings. [i] shows information about the ESA-110/111 and the controller. The [?]
menu will be accessible on later software revisions. 11

The ESA-110/111 can be installed either stand alone forming a complete channel or it can
be installed in a base unit (EBU-100) together with any of our high quality VSB
RF-modulators.
Before connecting power to ESA-110/111 make sure that all other connections are made.
If a stereo RF-modulator such as the EVA-210 is available, connect Right and Left audio
outputs to the corresponding inputs on the EVA-210.
Connect also the video source (CVBS) to the video input of any RF-modulator.
An antenna cable with F-connector of good quality should be connected to the RF-output.
The signal from the LNB should be connected to the Antenna input.
Connect power supply and make all necessary settings as described in section 4 and 5.

menyn [CA module]. Klicka på [Close]. Menyn [Software] anger vilken firmware
version som finns nedladdad i ESA-110/111. Även hårdvaruversion kan läsas ut. Menyn
[About] anger versionsinformation om kontrollmjukvaran. Under menyn [Status] finns
information om status för den mottagna signalen, signalkvalitet, om CA modul eller
program kort är installerat samt vilka audio och video format som för tillfället tas emot.

Detta kapitel beskriver hur man gör alla inställningar av mottagaren med hjälp av en PC.
Se till att filen för kontrollmjukvaran till PC finns nedladdade och installerade på din
PC innan du börjar med inställningarna.

1. Anslut ESA-110/111 till en DC-spänning (ESP-100 eller EPP-100).

Anslut sedan din PC till mottagaren med en s.k. nollmodem kabel från en serieport på din
PC till RS-232 porten på ESA-110/111.
Välj korrekt COM port varvid nedanstående meny skall visas på skärmen.

Notera att ESA-111 endast har inbyggd Conax avkryptering. För NDS Videoguard
rekommenderar vi ESA-110.
Nedan finns beskrivning av de olika funktionerna under denna meny.

1. RECEIVER
Välj en fast LNB frekvens eller universal LNB. Välj sedan rätt polarisation för den
transponder ni önskar ta emot och låt LNB Power vara inställd på Auto om ni har
Universal LNB. Inverterat spektrum kan väljas manuellt eller automatiskt för vissa ut-
sändningar (C-band). Slutligen välj korrekt transponderfrekvens och symbolfrekvens.
Vi föreslår att ni hämtar uppgifter om transponderdata från www.lyngsat.com .
Tillse att innivån är högre än -65 dBm (helst högre än -50 dBm) och att Eb/N0 värdet
är högre än 10. [Program receiver] måste väljas varje gång nya värden skall läsas
in i ESA-110/111.

2. DECODER
[Service] menyn tillåter val av ett specifikt program ur en multiplex av flera olika
program. Ljud och textningsspråk kan också väljas under denna meny.

3. AUDIO/VIDEO
I videomenyn kan inställning av sändningsstandard, bildgeometri (4:3, 16:9, 14:9
combined) göras. [WSS] är en förkortning av Wide Screen Signalling och är en
signallering som göres på videonivå och som signalerar till respektive TV-apparat
vilken bildgeometri som den skall välja. Detta görs automatiskt av de flesta TV.
I [Teletext] menyn kan teletext textning slås av eller på.
I [Audio] menyn görs inställning av ljudnivå och om man vill ha mono eller stereoljud.

4. MODULATOR
Under menyn [Modulator] kan den inbyggda modulatorns inställningar göras
samt också stänga av modulatorn om endast ljud och videoutgångarna användes .

5. CA SETTINGS
Information om den CA modul som användes samt om det inbyggda CA systemet kan
läsas ut under denna meny. Programkort till respektive CA system måste vara installerade.

6. SYSTEM SETTINGS
Gör regionala inställningar under denna meny. Textnings- och språkinställningar
kan göras och även val av serieport (COM port) görs här.

7. FIRMWARE
Klicka på [Firmware] om ni har en ny mjukvara tillgänglig för ESA-110/111. Genom att klicka
på denna knapp kan ni söka bland era kataloger och hämta filen från er dator.

ESA-110/111 kan installeras antingen som en helt fristående enhet som kan anslutas till
existerande eller nya modulatorer. Den kan med fördel också monteras i en basenhet
(EBU-100) tillsammans med någon av våra högkvalitativa RF-modulatorer.
Innan ni ansluter matningsspänning till enheten tillse att alla övriga anslutningar är
gjorda.
Om en RF-modulator med stereoingång finns tillgänglig koppla höger och vänster kanal till
motsvarande ingångar på dessa (EVA-200/210).
Koppla också videoutgången (CVBS) till videoingången på en modulator (EVA-200/210).
Använd en antennkabel av god kvalitet med F-kontakt (hane) för anslutning till RF-utgången
och RF-ingången på ESA-110/111.
Anslut matningsspänning och gör alla nödvändiga inställningar enligt kapitel 4 eller 5.
