MY FIRST DAY OF WORK IMMERSION

Today marks my first day as an OJT assisting the MENRO (Municipal Environment and
Natural Resources Office) Services. As Senior High School student, I was thrilled to have the
opportunity to be a part of an organization that promotes environmental protection and
conservation.Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly staff and was given a brief orientation about
the office's functions and responsibilities. MENRO Services are responsible for implementing
environmental policies and regulations mandated by the government. These include waste
management, environmental monitoring, and pollution control, among others.
My first task was to assist the staff in conducting an inspection in a local factory that
disposes of hazardous waste improperly. It was eye-opening to see firsthand the harmful effects of
irresponsible waste management practices on the environment and people's health. We documented
the findings and made recommendations to the factory management on how to properly dispose of
their hazardous waste.
After , we visited the surrounding of municipal hall . We collected trash from different
parts of the Municipal. The results were alarming as the water had a high concentration of pollutants,
indicating poor air quality. We discussed the results with the local government officials, and they
promised to take necessary actions to improve the cleanliness.Overall, it was an insightful day, and I
learned a lot about the importance of environmental protection and conservation. I look forward to
learning more about MENRO Services and contributing to their efforts in creating a more sustainable
and environmentally friendly community.

SEMINAR OF IEC FOR RA 9003 AND FOREST AND WILD LIFE CONSERVATION

On the second day of my work immersion, I attended a program on IEC for RA 9003 and forest
and wildlife conservation at the co-op. We arrived there at 8:00 a.m. because the program started at
9:00. My co-OJT student and I facilitated the attendance, which was a bit nerve-wracking since all
the attendees were captains, the mayor of Hinunangan, and Sir Emman Tocmo. The program began
with the singing of our national anthem and a prayer
. Then, we facilitated the snacks. The program taught me that the biggest problem in our society
is our trash, our disappearing forests, and endangered species like the Philippine eagle. After the
program, we had lunch and cleaned up the co-op because there was a lot of trash. Our supervisor told
us to go back to the office, but it was already 2 o'clock. We went to the office, and our supervisor
said that we had no work to do right now, so we relaxed until 5:00 pm, and I got my DTR card
signed before going to the municipal hall and heading home.

A VACANT TIME

On the third day of my OJT, which was Wednesday, I went to the Municipal Hall to log in and went
to the office to wait for my co-OJT student and our supervisor, Sir Eutropio. While waiting, I was
bored, so I decided to clean the whole way. Then, my co-student and supervisor arrived and saw me
sweeping. Our supervisor did not give us an assignment, so my co-student and I decided to clean the
whole gym. After finishing, we went back to the office to make a journal and do something
important. There was a lot of vacant time, so I took it as an opportunity to finish my overdue notes.

CLEANING HMCC

Today, We cleaning a covered court or HMCC The court is a popular place for having a program or
a orientation . However, it had become quite dirty and dusty due to neglect and lack of
maintenance. As we started our work, we cleared out all the trash and debris that had accumulated
in the court, including leaves, plastic bottles, and food wrappers. We then swept the entire area,
removing the dirt and dust that had settled on the surface. It was hard work, but it was also
fulfilling to see the court transform from a dusty and dirty place to a clean and inviting space. I
could imagine the joy on the faces of the people who would be come. This experience taught me
the importance of taking care of our community spaces and the impact that small actions can have
on our surroundings. I hope that our efforts will inspire others to take care of their community
spaces and work towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment for everyone.

ASSISTING MENRO SERVICES

Today, we clean the comfort room at our office building. As part of our company's efforts to
maintain cleanliness and sanitation, employees are encouraged to pitch in and do their part in
keeping the facilities in good condition.

I started by putting on gloves and gathering all the necessary cleaning supplies - a bucket, mop,
disinfectant spray, and paper towels. The first thing I did was to remove all the trash and debris on
the floor and in the bins. Then, I sprayed the surfaces with the disinfectant and scrubbed them
clean using the mop. I paid extra attention to the toilet bowls, sinks, and door handles since these
are the most commonly touched areas. I also refilled the soap and paper towel dispensers.

While I was cleaning, I couldn't help but notice how some people don't seem to care about keeping
the comfort room clean. There were used tissues on the floor, stains on the walls, and even some
graffiti. It made me realize how important it is to educate people about proper hygiene and respect
for public facilities.

After finishing up the cleaning, I went to the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) to help the person in
charge fold cartons. The MRF is where we collect and sort recyclable materials such as paper,
plastic, and glass. It was a nice change of pace from cleaning the comfort room, and I enjoyed the
opportunity to work with my hands.

The cartons were flattened and stacked in a corner, and our task was to fold them neatly so they
could be stored efficiently. It was a simple task, but it required a bit of patience and attention to
detail. It was satisfying to see the pile of cartons gradually decrease as we worked through them.

Overall, I feel proud of myself for taking the initiative to help out with these tasks. It's not
glamorous work, but it's important, and it feels good to contribute to a cleaner and more
sustainable workplace.

COMPUTING RECYCLABLE WASTE SOLD TO JUNKSHOP

Today, Computing. Recyclable Waste , I spent the afternoon going through computing waste,
sorting out items that can be recycled such as plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and paper products
and. It's good to know that these items won't end up in a landfill and will instead be recycled. It's
important for everyone to do their part in reducing waste and recycling as much as possible. It's
easy to get caught up in our daily routines and forget about the impact our actions have on the
environment. But taking small steps like recycling can go a long way in reducing our carbon
footprint and preserving the planet for future generations. I feel sad also that im also a not a good
citizen maintaining my waste. I hope more people will follow suit and make a conscious effort to
reduce waste and recycle as much as possible. Small steps like these can make a big difference in
the long run. As I reflect on today's experience, I am reminded of the power of individual action.
Every small step we take towards sustainability can lead to a larger impact. It's important that we
all do our part to create a better world for ourselves and future generations.

PREPARING AREA FOR SEEDLINGS

Today, we started preparing a small area for the seedlings that we will be planting soon. As part of
the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), it is our responsibility to
ensure that our environment is clean and sustainable. Our team started by clearing the area of any
debris, rocks, and weeds that could impede the growth of the seedlings. We used rakes, shovels, and
other tools to remove any unwanted materials from the soil. Next, we leveled the area to ensure that
the seedlings would have a flat surface to grow on. We used a leveler to make sure that the soil was
even and not sloping in any direction. After we were satisfied with the cleanliness and leveling of the
area, we began to prepare the soil for planting. We mixed compost and other organic materials to
enrich the soil and make it more conducive to plant growth. Finally, we marked the area where we
will be planting the seedlings and made sure that it was well-irrigated. We will continue to monitor
the area to ensure that the seedlings grow healthily and thrive. As a member of MENRO, I am proud
to contribute to the sustainability of our environment. I look forward to seeing the three of into full-
grown plants.

CHECKING THE SEEDLINGS

Today, we separated the seedlings of Mangyom and Mahogany trees at the front of Municipal Hall.
This activity is important to ensure that each seedling has enough space, nutrients, and sunlight to
grow into healthy trees. The first step was to identify the seedlings of each species. We carefully
inspected each seedling, looking for distinguishing characteristics such as the shape and color of the
leaves and the overall size and shape of the plant. Once we had identified the seedlings, we gently
dug them out of the soil, taking care to avoid damaging their delicate roots.Next, we separated the
seedlings into two groups, one for Mangyom and the other for Mahogany. We then replanted each
group in separate areas of the nursery, making sure to give them enough space to grow and thrive.
We also watered each seedling carefully, taking care not to overwater them, which can be harmful to
their growth. Overall, the separation of the Manggyom tree and Mahogany tree seedlings was a
successful and important step in ensuring the healthy growth of these trees. It was also a reminder of
the importance of taking care of our environment and preserving our natural resources for future
generations.

Transferring Seedlings

On my fifth day of OJT, I woke up early so I could arrive at the office early. After I finished
preparing myself, I went to the Municipal Office to log in, then headed to the office. I waited for my
supervisor and my CO-OJT to arrive. Eventually, they arrived and our supervisor instructed us to
transfer seedlings of mahogany and mangyom tree to the nursery. We waited for a while because Sir
Eutropio had borrowed a cab from DA.
Later on, we were called and started to load the seedlings onto the cab because there were a lot
of them. We rode the cab and went to the front of the municipality and beside the legislative office
because that's where the seedlings were. We helped each other until the cab was filled with seedlings.
We then went to the nursery and unloaded the seedlings and placed them in the area we cleaned last
Thursday. We worked hard and helped each other.

CONTINUES OF TRANSFERRING SEEDLINGS

Today, continues of transferred a batch of mahogany seedlings and mangyom plants to the
nursery. The process of transferring the seedlings was a bit challenging, and unfortunately, a few of
the plants suffered from contusions during the process. The mahogany seedlings, in particular, were
delicate, and we had to be extra careful not to damage their roots during the transfer. Despite our best
efforts, some of the plants got bruised and suffered from contusions, which is a setback for their
growth. The mangyom plants were relatively easier to handle, but we still had to be careful to avoid
damaging their stems and leaves. Fortunately, we were able to transfer most of the plants without any
issues.

To prevent further damage to the contused plants, we treated them with a solution of water and
fungicide to prevent any infections. We also moved them to a shaded area of the nursery to help
them recover. Overall, the transfer process was a bit challenging, but we managed to complete it
successfully. We will continue to monitor the plants and provide them with the necessary care to
ensure their growth and development.

WATERING SEEDLINGS

Today was a lovely day spent in the nursery, tending to the young seedlings. As I walked in, I could
feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, and the smell of fresh soil filled my nostrils. I started by
checking the moisture levels of the soil, making sure that it was not too dry or too wet. I then
proceeded to water the mahogany and mangyom seedlings carefully. As I poured water over the soil,
I watched as the water droplets glistened in the sunlight, and the earth soaked up the much-needed
moisture. While watering, I noticed that some of the mangyom seedlings had started to grow, and I
was happy to see that they were thriving. I took extra care to water them gently, being careful not to
damage the delicate stems. After finishing the watering, I took a moment to observe the seedlings,
admiring their beauty and potential. I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in helping them grow and
flourish. As I was leaving, I made a mental note to check on the seedlings regularly, to ensure that
they continued to receive the proper care and attention they needed to grow into strong and healthy
trees. All in all, it was a fulfilling day spent in the nursery, and I look forward to continuing to watch
the seedlings grow and develop into mature trees.

ASSISTING MENRO SERVICES

Today, I assisted my supervisor in organizing and reviewing the pictures of the Material Recovery
Facility (MRF) in each barangay of Hinunangan. As part of our project, we needed to document the
current state of the MRFs in the area and identify areas for improvement. I spent most of my
morning sifting through the photos and categorizing them according to barangay. It was quite
challenging since some of the pictures were not labeled properly, and I had to rely on my knowledge
of the area to identify the locations. In the afternoon, I helped my supervisor cut some of the printed
pictures of the MRFs that we will be presenting to the local government officials. It was a tedious
task, but it felt good to be able to contribute to the project in a tangible way. Overall, it was a
productive day, and I learned a lot about the importance of proper documentation and presentation in
a project. I am excited to see the progress we will make in the coming days.

Today is my last day of On-the-Job Training (OJT) at the Municipal Environment and Natural
Resources Office (MENRO). It's been an incredible experience to work with the MENRO team for
the past few months, and I am grateful for the knowledge and skills I have gained during my time
here. As part of my last-day task, I was assigned to check the seedlings in the nursery. The nursery is
an essential part of the MENRO's operations, as it serves as a source of seedlings for their
reforestation and beautification projects. I started my task by examining the seedlings and making
sure they were healthy and disease-free. I also checked the soil moisture levels to ensure that the
seedlings were getting the right amount of water. If the moisture levels were too low, I watered the
seedlings, and if they were too high, I adjusted the drainage to prevent over-watering. Aside from
checking the seedlings' condition, I also recorded the number of seedlings and the species that were
available in the nursery. It was interesting to see a wide variety of seedlings, including fruit-bearing
trees, ornamental plants, and forest trees. Overall, the task was fulfilling, and I learned a lot from it. I
realized the importance of maintaining a healthy nursery to ensure the success of reforestation and
beautification projects. The experience also gave me an appreciation of the hard work that goes into
the MENRO's efforts to preserve the environment and natural resources. As my OJT comes to a
close, I feel grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such a dedicated and knowledgeable
team. I will carry the lessons I have learned with me as I move forward in my future endeavors

Appraisal
Form
REFLECTION
PAPER
I had the opportunity to learn more about MENRO services, and I must say that I was impressed by
their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

MENRO stands for Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, and it is a government
agency responsible for the implementation of environmental laws and regulations in the local
government units. Their services cover a wide range of environmental concerns such as pollution
control, waste management, coastal resource management, biodiversity conservation, and
environmental education.

One of the things that stood out to me is their approach to solid waste management. MENRO
services are designed to promote the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) as the basis for proper
waste management. They encourage households and businesses to minimize their waste
production, segregate their waste properly, and participate in recycling programs.

In addition to their waste management efforts, MENRO also works to preserve and protect the
natural resources in their localities. They promote eco-tourism, reforestation, and sustainable
fishing practices, among others. Their commitment to protecting the environment is also evident in
their environmental education programs, which aim to raise awareness and promote
environmental stewardship among the youth.

Overall, I am impressed by the work that MENRO services do in promoting environmental

sustainability. Their efforts are crucial in ensuring that our natural resources are protected for
future generations to enjoy. I look forward to learning more about their programs and how I can
contribute to their efforts.
