Kansas City, MO. 64116SEnsiIGHT Pine Binge 8808s Operating Instructions and Precautions FORE STARTING THE LIKWIFIER—Make sure all objects and/ or personnel are faway from Impeller area Level the Blender before use 1. LDD models - the pin retaining the Impeller needs to be in a securely locked position. For all thresded units LOT models, ha «ure impeller Ic tightened firmly in place. The motor is properly wired and the rotation of the impeller Is counterclock~ wise when viewed from above. Sanitize or clean the Likwifler before using t in production or testing. Product connections~ Connect the liquid lines to the inlet ferrules located on the top of blender. Ingredients can be added through a manway manually or through a ferrule/ inlet on the top head. Flex line will provide less stress on ferrules. Grates may be used to help prevent entry of foreign particles. Install flex and an ‘outlet valve to the discharge outlet. When installing a large valve or pump, make sure to use flex and support the valve or purmp to prevent stress on the outlet. You may want to install the dial thermometer or temperature controller if applica ble. Operator a Likwifier~Add liquid ingredients and start impeller IFyou need to run ‘he impeller during powder installation. Add powder ingredients and then semi solid ingredients. Run impeller to get the desired blend, you may continue to run the Impeller if you have a heating of cooling stage. A visual vortex will help you determine whether you have the proper speed for a desired batch or blend. Absolutely do not insert a rod or object to break up lumps inside the blender. ‘This can damage the Impeller as well as injure the operator. REMOVING THE PRODUCT ‘Open your outlet valve and/or pump located on the outlet line to remove the product. Standard Breddo sales do not include the valve or pump. Please make sure to vent the blender properly during the use of the blender in order to prevent a vacuum state. The Impeller can be used during this time but must be shut off during the emptying moments of the blender to insure that you do not burn up the seal, and cause additional foaming or air incor~ poration. When the blender is empty you may rinse the blender before the next batch. Running the impeller will help hydrate and disperse the product. 2. Relief eanconcate out of all jackets before using. Relieving of condensate will prevent water hammering in each jacket. 4, Open a slow opening steam valve and let the Likwifier heat the product to the desired temperature. When you are near the desired temperature, shut off the steam valve, Cautlon- do not close any of the valves in the condensate return line. 5. Once you are ready to repeat heating, you must first drain again all of your condensate out of the system. If you are fluctuating temperature in the jackets then itis good to temp purge the system so you do not create such an expansion/ contraction issue and cause additional stress. Flex hose, clean mediums and ‘good traps will also help in the increasing the life of each jacket. HEATING WITH HOT WATER, ‘Turn water valve on. Open hot water inlet valve to allow water heater to fill. Make sure drain valve Is closed. Turn water heater on to allow heat transfer Jacket to fill. ‘Water heater will purge air out of system automatically. Water heater will maintain desired temperature throughout production if necessary. To shut down system, turn off water heater. Close water valve to release water from the heat transfer jacket and water heater. Make sure to vent the system, install flex lines and use ‘lean medium for longer life of each jacket. ‘COOLING WITH CITY WATER ‘Open water Inlet valve. This will allow for water to circulate through the water cooling jacket. Keep Likwifier operating in order to help cool product evenly. Once the product reaches desired temperature close the water Inlet valve. Make sure to vent the system, instal flex lines and use clean medium for longer life of each Jacket. Dissolve the amount of alkaline cleaning powder recommended by your manu- Faeturor for 1/4 rated capacity of the blender in a small amount of water be- fore adding it to the water in the blender. ‘This dilution will help prevent de~ tergent burn in the blender. 3. Pour the cleaning solution into the Likwifier. Start the impeller to mix the warm, water and the cleaning solution. 7 4, Hand brush the entire lining and underside of the top. 5. Completely drain all cleaning solution. Rinse and re-rinse the interior of the machine with water (120-130°F). ‘When cleaning the seal and impeller separately, make sure to plug the bottom of. blender to prevent any residue to drain onto the motor below. The motor below is vwashdown but prolong periods of water contact will eventually soak Into the working parts. ‘Most industries recommend a dally cleaning of the impeller . See Impeller and seal replacement for proper reassembly. IMPORTANT—ALWAYS USE ANTI SEIZE COM- POUND ON THE THREADS OF THE IMPELLER BEFORE REINSTALLING THE IMPELLER |F you have a bearing drive underneath, please lubricate the bearings at deter ‘mined rate depending on use of blender. Eventu~ ally this deposit will restrict the flow and deteriorate the temp-plate. When the pressure drop thraugh the heat transfer surface has increased approximately psigmor than indicated by a pressure gauge when brand new, remove the scale ‘deposit by circulating a dilute acid solution (1 part inhibited 18°baume muriatic acid to 3 parts water not exceeding 90°F temperature) through the heat transfer surface. CAUTION: USE ONLY INHIBITED MURIATIC ACID Pump the dilute acid solution from the solution make up tank through the heat transfer surface back to the make up tank and thus circulate until the pressure ‘gauge reading Is the similar to the original reading. After the scale removal Is ‘complete, drain the acid solution from the heat transfer surface and immediately flush the heat transfer surface with 120°F water for 5-10 minutes. Next circulate an alkaline solution of 1/2 pound of sodium carbonate per each gallon of 120° F water through the heat transfer surface to neutralize any remain~ Ing acid. Drain and repeat rinsing flush with 120°F water for 3—5 minutes. CAUTION: YOU MUST FLUSH OUT THE ALKALINE SOLUTION IN ORDER TO PREVENT EMBRITTLEMENT SANTIZING Sanitize with chemical disinfectants just before use of the Likwifier for any type of food processing. Use a 100-200 ppm. Solution of chlorine or other acceptable disinfectant, Chlorine solutions will cause pitting and discoloration of stainless when not used correctly. Never use a chlorine slurry in contact with stainless except jut prior to using the equipment. Some customers use a careful use of steam to help sanitize. Stainless steel requires time to aerate to maintain its finish and protectiveness. Page 2 SENSISHT © LIKWIF AQ plegier—0021005 1230 Taney Street 816561-9050 Fax 816-561-7778 N. ONCE A MONTH—REMOVE THE CLEAN OUT PLUG ON THE STEAM STRAINER AP- PROXIMATELY ONCE A MONTH TO BLOW OUT ANY ACCUMULATION ON THE SCREEN Equipment motors ll the motors as per instructions of the motor manufacturer. Periodically check the amp load on the mator as a check on its condition and load when blending the product. Motor Alignment for LDT Models leis always important to have proper alignment on motors. 1, Use the impeller as guide, apply pressure with a Port-power to the motor sup~ port assembly until the impeller aligns with the motor coupling. 2. Height alignment can be corrected by either grinding the bottom of the ‘mounting lugs, if the impeller is too low or by adding shims if the impeller is too high: 3. After aligning the motor on the Likwaifier, it may be necessary to drill holes for ‘two 3 /16" diameter roll the pins to match existing holes In two of the motor bosses. Care should be taken in location of these holes. The best method to accomplish this Is to first drill new holes through the motor flange into the ‘motor bosses then hammer the roll pins through the flange into the motor bosses. Make sure Likwifier is level with equal pressure on all Iegs. Pads may be needed in some ‘environments. 3. Always see that the vessel has enough liquid in it before starting the Likwifier to insure lubrication of the seal. Even put a small amt of water in the unit when testing rotation. 4, Before starting the Likwifier, check the following: AA Seal is properly installed 8. Start/ stop the motor to check the Impeller direction. Impeller be turning counterclock- ‘wise and if not rewire the motor for proper rotation. . Bearings must be lubricated daily but can be adjusted based on blender usage. Recom- ‘mendation—555 White Food Grade Machine Grease (Hydrotex)-High Performance High Temp. . Motor should be olled as per instructions of the motor manufacturer. . Do not clean the vessel when the impeller and seal are removed unless the hole in the bottom of the tank is plugged to prevent excess water on the motor. F. Viscosity, impeller type and % solids will help determine HP for each blender. Changes in raw material and/ or formulas may affect impeller type and batch sizes. Larger HP mo- tors may be recommended. G.As noted above, always start with a liquid. H. The seal under the impeller is a wearing part and should be checked at intervals to be sure that itis working properly. A spare seal is always recommended and note addi~ tional seals are avallable for various applications and formula changes. |. Do not run the blender when discharging the product unless it Is a continuous/ recircu- lation process. Lubricating the seal is most Important. J. Vent tank when pumping out or when CIP system is running. Prevent implosion or dam- ‘age when using the atmospheric tanks. ‘sna 1230 Taney Street Phone Number 816-561-9050 Fax 816-561-7778 116SEAL OPERATING HEIGHT REQUIREMENT SEnsiGHT oe operating ents ar no fesbescton fr, Perna Tole [eon a wih | f-12"/ 1.500 [28-701-0000 sat [1.610" 1030 (+/+) earson sea! wi y"12"/ 1.500 [28-701-0013 tenn seat [1.610" [0.030 (+/-) icon seal wat [io"-12"/ 1.500 [28-70-0008 unesten seat [1.610"_ .030 (+/-) unsten sal wt [10"-12"/ 1.500 128-702-0986, 28-70-0986 _flleone seat 11.500" 1.030 (+/+) fenesen ss! wat 10"-12"/ 1.500, 8-702-2986, 28-703-0085 leone seat [1.500" .030 (+4) icone sa) LO"-12"/ 1.500 [28-701-3002 punepten seat [1.930 1.020 (+/+) funesten set wt [14"/ 1.875 lae-7o2-0024, 28-703-0014 cone seat [1.530" broso.
