Post Reading Activity

Answer the questions intuitively.

1. Give the message of the poem.

- Every person goes through different challenges in life, but we should all choose to be positive
and face them that way. Being a widow is challenging, especially if you find yourself in that
situation.
4. What scene in the poem is evoked in the poem?
- The part of the poem that provokes these emotions the most is the situation in the fourth
stanza, which describes death and separation and is particularly painful for a woman or
mother to experience in her life.
5. To whom was the writer speaking?
- - The author was speaking about a widow who seemed unconcerned by her circumstances
and seemed to be trying to encourage her to move on with her life in a positive manner.
6. What perception does the writer imply on the readers like you?
- The author implies that we should constantly see the good side of every circumstance we
encounter, maintain our positivity throughout life, be courageous while facing difficulties,
and not be scared to fall but dare to get up and carry on living.
7. What mood is aroused in the poem?
- Because of the widow's feelings and actions, which included holding herself down and
refusing to accept her positive qualities, the poem's mood leans toward negativity.
8. What do you feel while reading the poem? Why do you think these emotions evoke you?
- I feel bad for the widow. We may not be able to tell, but it may just be very difficult for her to
be in her position after losing the person who would support her through her challenges and
tribulations in life. She may be pitying herself, but I still feel bad for her.
9. Is the title appropriate? Why or why not? What another title can you give this poem?
- - The poem's title is appropriate because the author wants everyone to understand that we
all have to deal with a variety of challenges in life and that everyone is also going through
something that we constantly battle inside of us. "Keep fighting in life" is another possible
title.
10. What lessons on the moral statement does this poem provide?
- - This poem taught us to be optimistic in the face of difficulties and problems, to see the good
and better side of any circumstance, and to be positive in our lives.
On A Personal Note
What consoling words will you extend to a widow who experiences pain and sorrow? Write a letter to
her to lessen her burden.

Dear Widow,

I know that everything is getting tough, but I also know that you're tougher than anything. I know
what you're going through is hard, but I'm rooting for you every minute of every day. I'm so proud of
you for walking this road, and for fighting the battle even if it is hard for you. I'm so proud of you for not
giving up. I want you to know that there is not only you who can feel down, sad, or hopeless. Everyone
including me can feel it too. Just so you know, it's okay to feel whatever you feel. Your feelings are all
valid there’s no but, there’s no if. All are valid. Fighting your own battle can be tough sometimes, but
when you overcome your darkest, always think that I'm here clapping my hands for your little progress.

Sincerely yours,

Shaina
