Course Name: B1+ General English Course


Digital Syllabus Description:

This seven-week B1+ Digital Syllabus is designed to provide learners of English as a foreign language with language exercises described in B1+
level of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. (CEFR).

The main objectives of these materials are to enable learners to become basic language users who can
● evaluate learning process through enjoyable activities,
● recognize phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance,
● revise grammar structures with asynchronous lessons,
● read very short, simple texts and find specific, predictable information in simple everyday materials,
● utilize activities as an in-class or extra-curriculum learning tool,
● go beyond getting familiarized with the target words of the unit by internalizing them,
● solidify the vocabulary covered in lessons since encountering these words over and over on these platforms will contribute to enhancement in
vocabulary.
B1+ General English Course Learning Outcomes:
By the end of B1+ level, the students will be able to:
⮚ scan longer texts in order to locate desired information, and gather information from different parts of a text, or from different texts in order to
fulfil a specific task.

⮚ deduce the probable meaning of unknown words/signs in a text by identifying their constituent parts (e.g. identifying roots, lexical elements,
suffixes and prefixes).

⮚ extrapolate the meaning of a section of a text by taking into account the text as a whole.
Ref: CEFR B1+ Signing competences/Reception/Pragmatic competence/Sign text structure
⮚ recognise the line of argument such as cause-effect, reason-result, and advantage-disadvantage in the treatment of the issue presented, though not
necessarily in detail.
Ref: CEFR B1+ Communicative language activities/Reception/Reading comprehension/Reading for information and argument
⮚ exploit different types of connectors (numerical, temporal, logical) and the role of key paragraphs in the overall organisation in order to better
understand the argumentation in a text.

⮚ show understanding of straightforward, factual texts on subjects relating to their interests or studies.
