Introduction
1. INTRODUCTION

Social concern involves biologically based inclinations that sometimes lead people to give more
consideration to others than to their own interests. These inclinations include caring about others,
forming close ties to and cooperating with others, following certain moral intuitions, and
conforming.

Social concerns are those topics which seem to be most prevalent in the minds of a community,
city, country, hemisphere, etc. Examples might include homelessness, hunger, drug use in
general or a particular drug, mores or ethics, lack of education or opportunities for education, and
many other less widespread ideas.

Some concerns are manageable if people work together and support the factors needed to lessen
or strengthen the conditions leading to the problems. I do not know if world hunger will ever be
conquered because we are living on more of the earth now than ever before and the ground
needed to grow food is sharply reduced having been converted to living space. Drug usage is
rampant because of conditions that have arisen naturally and some which were precipitated by
lose of jobs, lost self-esteem, depression and other social problems which have to be mitigated
before working upon the problem itself. Every problem has potential solutions but for some, the
answer is not easy and would require everyone on the earth to cooperate which has not
happened. Environmental and social concerns are becoming increasingly important in many
areas. Plenty of indicators measuring environmental and social issues have been developed,
amongst them also footprints. They are usually measured in units of area, and one of the most
well-known is the ecological footprint. However, the data expressed in units of area show high
variability and the high inherited inaccuracy since they could be based on a variety of different
assumptions. Converting some of the footprints to area units can prove to be even problematic,
especially for processes that are not primarily area-based. In many studies only one footprint is
considered and evaluated, which most likely leads to inaccurate conclusions. It is much more
realistic when more impacts are considered. However, the reduction and aggregation of different
objectives have mostly relied on the decision-makers' preferences rather than on a systematic
mathematical approach.

There are many ngo’s among them we have selected the orphanage school.

The name of the school: arehalli vasathi shale:

1.1 ORPHANAGE SCHOOL

An orphanage is a residential institution devoted to the care of orphans. An orphan is a child

whose parents are dead and have abandoned them permanently.

Biological parents, and sometimes biological grandparents, are legally responsible for supporting
children but in the absence of these or other relatives willing to care for the children,
they become a ward of the state, and orphanages are one way of providing for their care, housing
and education.

When a child losses his father or mother or both, the future of the child becomes uncertain. Food
crises, extreme impoverishment, natural calamities, shortage of rainfall, malaria and AIDS are
some of the factors contributing to the distressed condition of the people of the country. Street
children is a term used to refer to children who live on the street. They are deprived of family
care and protection. Street children live in Railway Stations, slums, shops, bus stands, under the
Railway Bridges etc.

Where the arehalli govt. school offers shelter to the kids who grew up in tough situation that
separated them from the happiness of a family in their early days. These orphans need affection,
attention, kindness and edification. The orphans in India are plagued by many issues like
maltreatment, child labour, gender bias, trafficking, HIV / AIDS, health issues, homeless and
impoverishment.

all children are empowered with education and enjoy their childhood rights and creating
sustainable and humane society wherein all living being have access to manage their livelihood.
th th
Here they admit the children from age 10yrs to 14yrs that is from 5 standard to 8 standard,
th
after 8 they will be transfer to morarji desai school. They provide nutritious food and Mid Day
Meal programme has attracted general public to make voluntary donations in the form of cash or
kind. In some villages people have contributed plates, tumblers, cookers and vegetables. Sweets
are served to children on special occassions by elected representatives and general public.
1.2 OBJECTIVES of socal concern

1. Create a pool of partners committed to strengthening the education sector

2. . Extend support to individuals, organizations and institutions like SDMCs, PRIs CBOs to
work more closely with the schools and orphans

3. Lesson the urban and rural disparities.

1.3 IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL CONCERN

Awareness and engagement are part of the process of correction. An on-going conversation allows
for a focus on the issue and can lead to creative, organic/adaptive thinking as the topic is actively
considered whilst the talks progress, which is great as that means we are better poised to take action
should a position arrive in which we are able to affect change. If we do not talk about a thing, it can
lose the foreground and fade from a position of prominence and relevance. Think back to the last
time you helped someone, whether it was holding the door open for a classmate or raking your
elderly neighbour’s leaves. While you were doing it and afterward, how did you feel? We’re
going to make a safe bet you felt happy and more positive about life. That’s because the fastest
way to feel joy is serving others.

An old Chinese Proverb tells it perfectly, “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you
want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you
want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”But serving doesn’t just make your heart feel
good. Studies have shown that there are mental and physical health benefits to serving, like
reducing depression, lowering blood pressure and lengthening your lifespan. Putting other
people’s needs before yours also strengthens your relationships. It connects you with the one
you’re serving, and if that someone is someone you know, it creates a stronger bond with them.
It also enriches other people’s lives. Taking time out of your busy day to even bring a friend a
bowl of soup when they’re sick makes them feel better and can uplift them during their rough
time. And perhaps the best benefit of service is the chance of that person paying it forward. If
you help someone, they’re more likely to do something nice for someone else that day. Your one
act of kindness could have a major domino effect.
1.4 OUTCOME OF SOCIAL CONCERN PROJECTS

Humanity is all about giving , Interacting with the kids was just an amazing experience which we
all experienced . Lessons to take away , there is no discrimination among themselves based on
religion, colour . Which we all need to adopt in our social life.

People grow when they are loved. If you want to help someone heal, show them, unconditional
love. Giving is in different forms. It can be through making time to help someone and providing
with no expectations.

This heightened sense of well-being might be the by-product of being more physically active as
a result of volunteering, or because it makes us more socially active.

Researchers also think that giving back might give individuals a mental boost by providing them
with a neurochemical sense of reward. According to sociologists, teenagers who volunteer have
better grades and self-image.

Chapter ; 3
Theoretical background and literature
review
3. THEORETICAL BACKGROUND OF ORGANISATION

3.1 THEORETICAL BACKGROUND OF THE ISSUE:

 Arehalli vasathi shale, which is under government, here they give basic needs like food
and shelter, education and many more.
 The Child Labour Act was enacted in 1986.
 As per the Act, employment of children was prohibited in certain specified hazardous
occupations and processes and regulates the working conditions in others
 Child labour thus leads to lower wages and higher unemployment among adults. Children
who work and do not go to school will end up in low paid jobs later, and so will their
children
 Many children sold matches, rags, or newspapers to survive. For protection against street
violence, they banded together and formed gangs. So By understanding these problems
and in order to avoid this govt. school that is arehalli vasathi shale providing them the
basic needs and education freely.
 a child deprived by death of one or usually both parents He became an orphan Others
were abandoned due to poverty, illness, or addiction.
 Here not only to the child labour but also they give education to orphans and single
parented child.

 They give all the facility for the students

WEEKNESS

 No advance technology for the students

 Lack of accountability
 Lacking skill human resource

OPPERTUNITES

 Change in technology
 Lack of media support
 Economic crises

findings
4.1 WHY DID WE CHOOSE ORPHANAGE?

we choose this because, we and them are the future of our nation!!!
Everyone should get equal chance and there fundamental rights we want to
make change in our
society
we think it’s important to see orphan care not just as a duty or responsibility
to check off the list,
but a privilege.
By providing hope for these children, we are not only helping feed their
bellies and giving them
a bed to sleep on, but we are also intervening on their behalf so they can lead
a promising
future! This isn’t just about meeting their needs, it’s about giving them hope
for a future that
they might not have otherwise!
Orphan care is something that is beautiful in the sight of God and it’s a
wonderful thing to be
able to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.
4.2 PROBLEMS:
In the government orphan school there are many children like street children, slum children,
children of migrant workers , orphans etc
Where they will be having problem of ;
 Lack of care and affection
 Some of the children will be working after they join the school it takes more time to
adjust to study and have focused in there life.
 Even they will feel lonely .

4.3 SOLUTION:
We were visiting every week a twice , where the feeling and excitement of the children , when
we visit the kids get excited and became insanely happy just by looking at us visiting them!
They always miss their parents so we all take talk to them and make them happy we always care
them even it would always make us happy.
We always make them play and do what they really want to do in free times and we always teach
them values and good things that how they have to focus about their life and how to concentrate
about their studies . we play , dance , teach !
Even we learnt so much by talking to them by doing these all even they get through their
loneliness even they have learnt some values .
even they feel happy after meeting us.
4.4 CONCLUSION :

When a problem arises, it needs to be recognized, addressed and resolved. we should focus our
efforts on finding ways of successfully implementing character education into schools.
Actualizing character education programs into schools is necessary in order to overcome this
nation’s crisis of character. Thus Teachers play an important role in the nation building by
character building of the students. The best and the greatest profession in the world is that of a
teacher, because the future of a nation depends upon the type of teachers who shape the future
generations. Every teacher plays the most important role in shaping the students as enlightened
citizen. Swami Vivekananda words should not be forgotten by the teachers- “Arise, Awake and
Stop not till the goal are achieved”..
Good education is inseparable from value oriental education, It should excite a passionate hunger
for truth, perfection and excellence.
But today we are facing the problem of value degeneration. According to Reddy The main
causes of value degeneration are: Lack of respect for the sanctity of human life, Breakdown of
parental control of children in families. The positive externalities of secondary education on
health, gender equality, and living conditions are even stronger than those of primary education.
Through its impact on young people’s age at marriage, and its propensity to reduce fertility and
improve birth practices and childrearing, expanded secondary education of girls leads to
significantly lower maternal and child mortality, slower population growth and improved
education of children, all of which are important.
Orphaned children are one of the most vulnerable groups in india like every other . child ,they
have right to educate every child must have their education , do visit the orphanage school like
these even you learn more being with them we can see that genuine feeling showing to us even
they feel happy by talking to us. We have to help the society.

4.5 EXPERIENCE:

We had been to NGO for 4 weeks and it was a good experience in 1 st week we got know about
the background information of NGO and got to know some of students and played with them.
In 2nd week we did some cleaning work, and made students to play and celebrated one of the
student birthday, and gave chocolates to the winner, learnt about the family value, because
children in the school are orphans and they made us realise the parents and family importance.
In 3rd week we had lots of fun by playing games like koko, kabaddi, fire In the mountain and
many more, students thought us some unique games which we didn’t know.
In 4th week it was bit emotional day for us, because on that day they talked about there family
issues and how they end up in this school.
I thank our HOD sir and our mentor neetha Mahadev ma’am for giving us this opportunity to
know about the society, For making us aware about the social issue which are prevailing in the
society.

4.6 LEARNING OUTCOME:

When we think about the journey so far , it's been nothing less than a blessing. When we started
volunteering.
so everything was pretty new to us. We were talking and working with people from different
ages. Each person taught me something valuable.
We met some really wonderful people who inspired us to push our limits. They taught us to think
about the society first and ourself later. There were times when success got into our head and we
became a little demanding , but we later understood that things don't work out unless we are cool
headed and humble. In a way volunteering has not only taught us about the various challenges in
the society but it also helped us improve ourself as a person every single day.
We find a lot of happiness doing a bit for the society. The joy that we get when we meet young
kids in orphanages is soul touching. We have understood that relationships are not always made
through blood. We are indeed lucky to have chosen volunteering. Had we not have been with this
NGO , we don’t think we would have been the person that we are today.

4.7 FEEDBACK FROM

STUDENTS (SOCIAL CONCERN):
Namaste, my name is Seventi student of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose school studying in 7 th
standard my parents have sent me to this school to study and they have trust on me that I will
study and get good job in future and take care of my parents.
Here they teach really well the teachers treat me really well and I don’t think I get to see such
caring teacher in my life Savita miss and the wardens also takes good care of me, as we don’t
know how to read and write ,they will teach us spellings and also provide us with books to read
so that we study and get good marks, I don’t think that even my parents would take such good
care of me like they take care of us here in school. The visitors who come here to see us we feel
happy about it and they even teach us to keep our school clean, they play, sing, dance with us
and give us chocolate and they also help us to study.
