    Case study - Kamani Auditorium, Delhi

    ▪ Introduction -

    • Kamani Auditorium is strategically located


    in the Mandi House area of New Delhi at 1,
    Copernicus Marg.
    Kamani auditorium • It is a unit of the Bhartiya Kala Kendra
    Trust, which is the most prestigious
    Mandi house gol chakkar Theatre Hall in Delhi.
    24 m wide main roads • The 632 seater Auditorium has been a host
    to some of the best National and
    ▪ Connectivity – International Theatrical, Dance and Musical
    Performances.
    • The auditorium is connected well to the city. A public bus stop is situated right
    outside the auditorium.
    • And the Mandi House Metro station is less than 5 minute walk away.
    ▪ The green rooms –

    • Are located below the stage due to area shortages.


    • Two sets of stairs are located on both wings that connect the green room below
    to the stage above. Dressing and storage rooms are also located below attached
    to the common green room

    operated through the
    cable in the wings.

    • There is a fly tower

    ▪ The seating –
    • The total seating capacity of the theatre is 632 seats.

    • Of which about 140 are provided in the balcony.

    • The seating arrangement is linear, seats are arranged in bays, surrounded by2 1.5m
    of walkway aisle Seating rows are arranged in offset curves one behind the other,
    for better view of the stage even from the sides.

    ▪ Sound and Lighting services-

    • The hall is acoustically designed, but sound amplification systems are provided for
    convenience.
    • Stage lighting is done using lights placed in the fly tower, just above the stage and
    on the false ceiling above the audience.
    • These services are controlled by the controllers placed in the control room above
    the balcony.

    ▪ Acoustics -
    The Auditorium has excellent acoustics. It is furthermore equipped with a
    professional quality sound system using JBL Speakers, Crown Amplifiers, and a 32
    Channel Sound craft Mixer.
