Indigenous Ways of Knowing
First of all we have to know the term Indigenous Ways of Knowing. This means to know the different
and unique difficulties and differentiated ways of learning and teaching. The main thing is to make the
people aware about the huge variety of knowledge among the different communities.
For example:- Today’s generation think that what they are doing today will have an impact on their next
seven generation. In today’s Generation we don’t think about others respect and insult them but we
should have knowledge that if we treat all the living things on Earth with respect, we can move forward
together.(ref. By Queen’s University).
Indigenous people always have ties to their ancestral lands and natural resources where they live. And
the unique thing is that the land on which they depend on is linked to their cultures, livelihood and their
spiritual activities. Many indigenous people speak a distinct language from all the other languages and
the official languages of the area or the country where they reside. They speak approx. 5000 of the
world languages. Indigenous people occupy the quarter of the world’s surface area. To explore the life
of indigenous people, they only way is to know about their cultural, spiritual and their daily activities.
“Conclusion”
Knowing the indigenous people, they are recognized as the world’s poorest population. The group of
people under a common identity is known as indigenous group of people. In the above description it
says that it’s a very unique and common way to know the life of an indigenous person by knowing their
way of living, their cultural activities and their day to day spiritual activities and the other thing is that
their languages are also different from all the other languages of their area and the whole world.
