    Solar Cooker Technology
    Why need solar cooker?
    • Million of peoples can’t find enough wood to cooking, so
    using of solar cooker is a good idea. Therefore need to
    harness the solar energy.

    • There are zero carbon emissions as there is no burning of


    fossil fuel or any other substances E.g wood and Lpg gas
    Cooking principle.
    • Sun light is converted to heat
    energy which is retained for
    cooking.

    • Solar cookers utilizes the simple


    principle of reflection,
    concentrations, absorption and
    convert sunlight to heat energy.

    • Clean cooking technology .


    Classification of solar cooker:
    • Direct Type Solar Cooker

    • Indirect Type Solar Cooker

    • Advanced Type Solar Cooker


    1. Direct Type
    solar cooker:
    Use some solar
    energy concentrator
    to focus sunlight
    onto an area.
    Advantages.
    • Cooks nearly as fast as a conventional oven.
    • High temperatures of the order 450 ‘C of allow for food to be
    grilled and fried.

    Disadvantages.
    • Costly and complicated to make and use have to turn
    frequently to follow the sun.
    • More expensive than panel and box cookers.
    2. Indirect Type
    Solar cooker

    A box covered with


    transparent material like
    glass.
    3. Advanced Type
    The cookers use either a flat
    piece or focusing collecting, which
    collect the solar heat and transfer
    to the cooking vessel.

    Thermal storage cooker


    Or multi reflector type.
    Benefits of Solar cooker:
    • It boils 4.5 litre of water with in 20 min, killing germs
    and bacteria which cause Diseases like diarrhoea kidney
    related problems.
    • The solar cooker saves a significant amount of money for
    their user.
    • There is no monetary maintenance of the cookers only
    general cleaning is required to insure maximum
    efficiency.
    • Environmentally-friendly: Solar cookers reduce wood
    and fossil fuel consumption as well as carbon dioxide
    emissions. In sunny and dry climates, one solar cooker
    saves 1 ton of wood per year

    Conclusions.
    • Many sun-rich countries of the world use solar cooker energy for their
    daily cooking needs.
    • Solar cooking is one of the most economical methods that decreases
    deforestation.
    • The main purpose of this presentation is to discuss the different
    thermal performance parameters of a solar cooker in the climatic
    conditions of Pakistan.
    • Solar cooker business has a wide range and good worth in business
    market .
