5 OPINIONS
 Definition of Opinion

Expressing Opinion is an expression in English that is used to

express an opinion. In this topic there are 2 things to learn:

 Asking for Opinion: Asking other people about an

opinion.
 Giving an Opinion: Giving an opinion to others.

 Opinion Use

In the application of everyday life, the purpose of using Expressing Opinion is to express opinions
from the point of view of others about a topic discussed earlier. When we express opinions or just
chat with friends we often share our opinions with other people. But we don't fight for our own
opinions, so we have to know how to show empathy with different opinions as well as disagree, without
sounding aggressive so that the ongoing conversation seems monotonous. If they are comfortable
with our opinions that don't sound aggressive then they will be more open to our opinions. To give an
opinion usually use special verbs such as agree, belive, etc. The formula used is Subject + Verb +
Object.

 Various Expressions of Asking for Opinion

When you want to give an opinion, then you must understand first, the opinion you are giving is private
or public. Here's the explanation:

6 DEGREE OF COMPARISON
 Definition of Degree of Comparison

Basically, the degree of comparison is an adjective or

adverb to show a comparison. Degree of comparison is
often also referred to as comparative degrees. Based on
the level of comparison, the degree of comparison is
divided into 3 types, namely positive, comparative, and
superlative.

 Linguistic Elements Degree of Comparison

1. Asking for Information
Asking for information is an expression of asking a question or asking for an explanation
about something. There are two ways:
 Using WH-Questions (5W 1H)
 Using common phrases (common phrases)
 Type of Degree of Comparison
a. Positive degree (low level)
The positive degree is the simplest form of degree of comparison. You see, you absolutely
do not need to change the form of the verb or adverb you use. Positive degree is used to
show that the two things being compared are on the same or comparable level. Simply put,
this positive degree in Indonesian can be called "equal to".
To show a comparison in a positive degree sentence, use the word 'as ... as'. So the formula
for the sentence is: S + V + as adjective/adverb as + O
Consider the following example: I'm as tall as him.
b. Comparative degree (more level)
Comparative degree is used to compare something that has more characteristics than
other things. In the comparative degree, the adjective or adverb is added -er after it or
more in front of it. The suffix -er is used for words with two syllables. For example, happy
becomes happier or big becomes bigger. Meanwhile, for words with more than two
syllables, use more. For example, beautiful becomes more beautiful or expensive becomes
more expensive. After the adjective or adverb, add the word than which means 'than'. So
the sentence formula is: S + V + adjective/adverb-er OR more adjective/adverb (+than+O)
c. Consider the following example: The blue house is smaller than the red house. To
strengthen the statement, you can add reinforcing words such as much, a lot, a bit, and so
on. Example: I feel much better now. (I feel much better now.)
d. Superlative degree (most level)
The superlative degree is used when comparing 3 or more things to find the 'most' among
others. This is why he is called 'super'. Just like the comparative degree, the superlative
degree has two forms, which are added -est at the end of the word and most is added at
the beginning of the word. The rules are still the same, -est is used for words with 2 or
less syllables, while most is used for words with 3 or more syllables. Before an adjective or
adverb, use the word the. So the sentence formula is: S + V + the + adjective/adverb-est
OR most adjective/adverb (+O in/of O).
 Regular & Irregular Degree of Comparison
Some of the rules on how to change adjectives have been explained in the points above, below
in tabular form.
a. Regular Form

 One syllable adjectives

Adjective Comparative Superlative
tall taller tallest
 big bigger biggest Two syllable adjectives
fat fatter fattest Adjectives with two
sad sadder saddest syllables can be added -er/-
est or more/most. If it ends with the letter y then it is changed to i and added -er/-est.

Adjective Comparative Superlative

happy happier happiest
simple simpler simplest
busy busier busiest
tilted more titled most titled
tangled more tangled most tangled

Three syllable adjectives

Adjective Comparative Superlative

important more important most important
expensive more expensive most expensive

b. Irregular Shape
In the degree of comparison, there are some exceptions where the adjective or adverb
changes completely instead of using -er/est and more/most. That is, the changes are not
based on the number of syllables in the word. Here are some of the most common irregular
shapes:

Positive Comparative Superlative

Good Better Best
Bad Worse Worst
Far Farther/Further Farthest/Furthest
Little Less Least

Difference between Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw

Adobe Illustrator is a vector-based graphics software used to

design images, create illustrations, logos, brochures, and various other
types of designs. CorelDraw is a vector graphics editor software
developed by Corel Corporation. CorelDraw is designed as a software for
editing images such as logos, posters, banners, packaging designs, and
making vector designs. Design beginners generally like CorelDraw over
other graphic software, because the interface and features are more user
friendly. What distinguishes it is the way it works in terms of features
and tools in both software. CorelDraw has an interface and features that
are easy to learn for beginners, while Illustrator takes a long time and
more experience to recognize the tools in it.
