    PAKISTAN TELECOMMUNICATION AUTHORITY

    NOTIFICATION

    Islamabad, the 19th September, 2019


    S.R.O. 1375(I)/2019.—In exercise of powers conferred under sub-
    section (3) of section 10 of the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-organization)
    Act, 1996, the Authority hereby makes the following regulations, namely:—

    1. Short Title and Commencement.—(1) These regulations shall be


    called the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Employees Service (2nd
    Amendment) Regulations, 2019.

    (2) These regulations shall come into force from the date of gazette
    notification.

    2. Amendment in regulation 50, S.R.O 1014(I)/2008 of 2008.—In the


    Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Employees Service Regulations, 2008, at
    page 3769 of S.R.O 1014(I)/2008 of 2008, regulation 50 shall be substituted and
    read as follows:

    “50. Additional Charge.—(1) If a post falls vacant and it is not possible


    to fill it immediately in the prescribed manner, the work of the post
    should, as far as possible, be distributed among more than one
    employees of the same post.

    (2) However, where it is not feasible to distribute work as mentioned in


    sub-regulation (1) above, additional charge to vacant post of the same
    or a higher level post may be entrusted in its entirety to an officer at
    the same station with approval of the Chairman.

    (3) This arrangement shall not be made for a period exceeding six (6)
    months:

    Provided that it may be extended for another period of six (6)


    months with the approval of Chairman.

    (4) Subject to sub-regulation (3), in exceptional circumstances, where


    the filling of the vacancy is not possible for the time being, due to
    administrative or any operational reason(s), the Chairman may for
    the reason(s) to be recorded in writing, extend the additional charge
    for another term not exceeding twelve (12) months.

    (5) An employee entrusted with an additional charge may be entitled @


    20 % (Twenty Percent) running basic pay of the same post or a
    higher level post for the entire period of additional charge:

    Provided that an employee on additional charge shall not claim


    a right to promotion”
