campus journalism, "Pagharob: A School-Based Training Workshop for Campus Journalists in Campus Journalism" with a theme "Sharpening Minds and Pens in Upholding the Art of Truth-Telling", took place at Tubli National High School. It was held on December 6-7, 2022 at the Senior High School ICT room.
This two-day training and workshop aims to
train aspiring young journalists to write and enhance their skills in journalism through a verbal discussion. It also aims to equip these student journalists in the upcoming Division Secondary Schools Press Conference.
Attended by 67 young journalists and headed
by the School Paper Advisers (SPA), the event started with a short orientation and introduction of the speakers given by Ms. Lorraine D. Sabeniano, SPA of "Ang Hibla" and Ms. Charis C. Dasigan, SPA of "The Strand".
Speakers talked about the basics on how to
write an effective article and later on gave the journalists a workshop.
Ms. Anjenette B. San Juan, Teacher I,
discussed the basics of News Writing and how to write one. She also shared a quote saying, "Write to express, not to impress".
The next speaker was Ms. Karen Kay V.
Dasigan. She related Copyreading and Headline Writing to a romantic relationship.
"You cannot correct unless you know that
there is something wrong," she quoted.
First day's last speaker was Mr. Rodolfo B.
Tomagan, Teacher I and co-SPA of "The Strand". He lectured about Feature Writing and Editorial Writing and later on gave the journalists a workshop. Mr. Alvin B. Biñas, Teacher III was the second day's first speaker. He said that in writing Science and Technology article, "More or less, less is more". He also lectured about Photojournalism and shared the importance of photojournalists in the pursuit of the truth.
"Mahirap ang ginagawa nila kaya, mahalin
niyo sila," he said.
Sports Writing was discussed by Mrs. Gina T.
Rodulfo. She explained the how's in writing a sports article and the qualities that a sports writer should possess.
The last event was discussed by Ms. Kristine
S. Adille, Teacher I. Her topic was Editorial Cartooning where she lectured about the creation of an appropriate cartoon to an editorial article.
Afterwards, the awarding of Certificates of
Recognition to the top 3 journalists of every event (both English and Filipino) and certificates of participation to all the participants was done. The event was ended with a short closing remarks given by Mrs. Irene T. Aguilar, Officer-In-Charge of Tubli NHS.

TNHS students participate in Nat'l Reading
Month 2022 Kick Off Students of Tubli NHS participated in the 2022 Pambansang Buwan at Araw ng Pagbasa (PBAP) Kick Off held on November 15, 2022 at Tubli NHS Multi-Purpose Hall.
One of the highlights of the program is the
introduction of a mystery reading ambassador who will tell a story and will ask questions from the students. The mystery reader was later on revealed as Mr. Rodolfo B. Tomagan, Grade 10 English Teacher. He then made a small talk about the importance of reading.
12 students who correctly answered the
questions received prizes consisting of three writing notebooks, one white pad and one ballpen.
Mr. Alvin B. Biñas, the school's English
Coordinator headed the said activity.
A culminating activity will be done on
November 28-29, 2022 to formally conclude the celebration.
Tubli NHS celebrates Filipino Values Month

Different activities were conducted by the
Junior and Senior High School students of Tubli National High School in support to the celebration of the 2022 Filipino Values Month.
The Grade 7 advisers and subject teachers
made exclusive activities for the Grade 7 students like the orientation of the flow of activities, yell presentation, role playing, team building and feeding program on the 24th of November 2022.
The following day, the Grade 7 students
attended the symposium held at the TNHS Multi-Purpose Hall. Rev. Fr. Ferdinand A. Robles, Parish Priest of San Lorenzo De Manila Parish lectured about Spiritual Identity; Ms. Melda S. Vegim, Municipal Nutritionist and Dietician talked about Hygiene, Nutrition and Dietetics; and Ms. Ma. Teresa V. Reveriza, Teacher III of Tubli Elementary School discussed storytelling to the students.
Afterwards, a gift giving was made for the
Grade 7 Parents. Awarding of certificates to the winners and participants was done in the afternoon.
Other activities and competitions were
conducted simultaneously in the respective classrooms of other grade levels.
Mr. Marcelino D. Vargas Jr., ESP coordinator
expressed his heartfelt appreciation to one and all who have helped in the success of the activity. Meanwhile, in line with the celebration, the Senior High School (SHS) students of Tubli NHS conducted a clean-up drive activity on the 24th of November 2022 inside the school. Mr. Elmer T. Lumbao, SHS adviser, led the activity with the help of other SHS teachers. The students cleaned all the restrooms and segregated biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste materials.
In addition, SHS students also participated in
the different contests such slogan writing, photo essay, and poster making contests.
This year’s theme is “Magagandang
Kaugaliang Filipino Isabuhay at Pagyamanin Tungo sa Matiwasay at Maunlad na Kinabukasan”.

Tubli NHS concludes Reading Month
celebration '22
Tubli National High School wind up the
celebration of Pambansang Buwan at Araw ng Pagbasa on November 28-29, 2022 with the supervision of the school's English coordinator, Mr. Alvin B. Biñas, Teacher III.
Students engaged in the different contests on
the first day of the event: English and Filipino Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Quiz Bee, and Spelling Bee.
On the second day, Tubli NHS welcomed Ms.
Hazel Grace Tasarra Vargas, Teacher III from Catanduanes NHS who served as a reading ambassador who read to the students the story, "Sky, Blue" from the book Pwera Bisita, written by the award-winning Catandunganon writer, Mr. Emmanuel T. Barrameda.
When Ms. Vargas was done reading the
excerpt, she asked questions to the students about the said story, then left them with inspiring and impactful messages.
“Kung gusto niyong matupad ang inyong mga
pangarap, dapat mayroon kayong baon. Siyempre kailangan niyo ng tiwala sa Diyos, laman ng utak, at lakas ng loob," she said.
“Paano magkakaroon ng laman ang utak?
Makinig sa lessons ng mga teachers, at magbasa," she added.
“Unti-untiin hanggang masanay na kayong
magbasa. Tandaan, sabi ko nga kanina, ‘Reading widens our world, it extends our horizon’. Kung ano man ang dreams niyo, nabubuo ito dahil sa pagbabasa. Simula ngayon, mahalin natin ang pagbabasa," she ended.
Afterwards, the coordinators commenced the
new activities that were participated by the students from different grade levels and sections: Declamation, Story Telling, Reader's Theater, and English and Filipino Spoken Word Poetry Recital.
