Escasinas, Rhegee Educ 109 Mid-Term Quiz
1. Dep Ed decided to shift to distance learning for the coming school year to comply with
President Rodrigo Duterte’ directive for schools to delay face to-face classes until a
coronavirus vaccine becomes available.
Can government now deliver safe, accessible, and quality education for all students
considering that the threat for the coronavirus is still in full force? 20 points
As DepEd is trying to cope up with the situation we are in and to give quality education to learners. The
government may not completely deliver safe and accessible to all students, as the vaccines are given to 18 years
old above. The students under 18 years old are more likely to be infected by the virus coming from their
classmates, by their teacher, the personnel in the school, or on their way to school and when they go home. With
safety measures by wearing face masks and using alcohol the students may lower the risks of being infected
facilitated by the school and their teachers.
2. Modular learning is the back bone of the DepEd distance learning program as access to technology
remains a problem for most students. Other modes of learning such as online, and TV and radio
broadcasts would supplement the modules. 20 points
For DepEd is trying all their best to give quality education to the learners and be able to mold a holistic
learner ready for their future. The modular learning gives the less fortunate people the education that they need for
them to be equipped with the right skills under the Most Essential Learning Competencies. As the technology
(Mobile Phones and internet) getting affordable and easily accessible this help them go through their modules. To
the less fortunate who can’t afford having phones, DepEd implement the TV and radio broadcasts that they can
opt when answering their modules. But it cannot be guaranteed that this will suffice, that is why there are home
visitations to students to assess them in where they are having a hard time.
3. Is the printing of modules be the reason why the school opening was postponed yet again? There had
been reports that some teachers didn’t have copies of the modules weeks before the original date of
school opening.
Most likely yes, for me it is the main reason why they postponed the school opening. The lack of
equipment for teachers that result to slow production of modules, the activities and lessons tend to be long, and
elderly teachers not equipped with computer literacy. Since it was the first time implementing such modality, the
school opening has been an experiment to come up with a better way to give quality education at the same time
provide safe healthy protocols to their stakeholders. The MCQ & GCQ to some areas also hindered the opening
of the school year.
If you were the Division Superintendent, what will you do to your teachers under
your jurisdiction with regards to the opening of classes, module distribution and retrievals.?
20 points
If I were the Division superintendent, I will provide with all the support that they need. Provide them with
all the equipment in the production of modules like one printer per 2 teachers, tables made under the IATF
protocols, and would put them in a safe facility that would lower the risk of them getting infected by the virus.
Fortunately, here in Baybay City, Leyte the COVID-19 infected person is lower than other areas. Giving them
enough budget to buy safety measures. As I believed that the safety and health of all my personnel and
stakeholders is the priority. Not only that I will give them all my support, conducting financial investigation to
each school will help the teachers make use of the financing in the equipment needed.
3. While online learning is only one option for distance learning, data shows that not all households in
the Philippines have access to the internet. But internet access is just part of a bigger problem for online
classes.
As a teacher or a learning facilitator, what will you do to encourage your students not to give up, instead
take that as a challenge for them to go on, and to the parents for them to send their child to school. 20
points.
As an educator at the same time their second parent, I will tell them that this is just a hurdle in our life and
will not be permanent. But the time we lost not educating our self and going to school will not be taken back. We
should make use of our youth and do not waste it, so that we won’t end up regretting that we did not take the free
path or street to prosperity given by the school. Time is Gold and problems are not permanent, all problems has
solutions, but the more time we hesitate the lesser the chance we can go through and conquer the hurdles.
