1 Introduction
This guide provides a basic overview of the OpenManage portfolio, and the upgrade options and skus.
These licenses apply to multiple generations of PowerEdge Servers. For a link that explains PowerEdge
Server generations, see the Resources section at the end of this paper.
Some licenses are applied directly to the iDRAC. Other licenses are “controlled” by the iDRAC but are not
considered as an “iDRAC license.”
• iDRAC
• Secured Component Verification (SCV)
• Secure Enterprise Key Manager (SEKM)
• OpenManage Enterprise Modular (OMEM)
The iDRAC license levels are not tied or related to the other licenses.
2.1 iDRAC
The integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) delivers advanced, agent-free, local, and remote
server administration. The iDRAC provides a secure means to automate a multitude of management tasks.
Given that iDRAC is embedded in every PowerEdge server, there is no additional software to install. Once
iDRAC has been enabled, you have a complete set of server management features.
iDRAC9 licenses are linked to a specific generation of PowerEdge server. They cannot be installed or
transferred to a different generation server from the server for which they were purchased. Attempting to
import a license that is purchased for a different generation of server fails.

• Deploy PowerEdge servers confidently with a component set that is delivered with an encrypted “as-
built” certificate you can validate
• Leverage existing server management workflows to incorporate server component verification into
your deployment processes
• Align your server security standards with emerging industry guidelines to meet the most demanding
requirements for secure IT infrastructure
10
The telemetry that the Advanced license enables is complementary to the iDRAC Datacenter license. To get
a complete set of telemetry information, you need the OME-M Advanced license for the chassis power/cooling
and iDRAC Datacenter licenses for the compute sled telemetry.
Note: The Advanced license does not “propagate” to iDRAC or to other chassis in a Multi-Chassis
Management Group. All chassis and compute sled iDRACs need a license to enable a complete set of
telemetry information and future features like Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Automatic Certificate
Enrollment.

In modern IT infrastructures, management visibility and control across the ecosystem is critical. Dell
OpenManage systems management offerings help provide seamless management of PowerEdge servers
and solutions on-premises and across your cloud infrastructures. Our ecosystem of solutions for Microsoft,
VMware, RedHat Ansible and ServiceNow are designed to break down the information silos between vendors
for full-stack management of your virtual and cloud infrastructures. Our solutions also provide customized
scripting and deeper control of your environment. By enabling native access to the integrated Dell Remote
Access Controller (iDRAC) and the OpenManage Enterprise console, OpenManage Integrations and APIs
give you real-time access to OpenManage innovations directly from your selected management solution. The
Dell OpenManage ecosystem of solutions enables industry-leading visibility and control across your
infrastructure -- server, operating system, and hypervisor.
The following OpenManage Integrations are available for Microsoft System Center:
17
The OpenManage Integration for Microsoft System Center is delivered as a software appliance. There
are two distinct appliance options depending on your requirements. A single appliance integrates with System
Center Configuration Manager or System Center Virtual Machine Manager (or both) consoles in data center
environments. A separate appliance integrates with the System Center Operations Manager console only.
Each console connection requires a distinct license.
Single Node - A single node is accessed and managed with both Microsoft System Center Configuration
Manager and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager.
Licensing Requirements:
• 1 Base License
• 1 Single Node License for the OpenManage Integration for Microsoft System Center for Microsoft
Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), formerly System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
• 1 Single Node License for OpenManage Integration for Microsoft System Center for Microsoft System
Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
More than 500 Nodes - When accessing more than 500 nodes, the unlimited node license is recommended.
In this example, 500+ nodes are accessed and managed with both Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine
Manager and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager
Licensing Requirements:
• 1 Base License
• 1 Unlimited Node License for the OpenManage Integration for Microsoft System Center for Microsoft
System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM)
• 1 Unlimited Node License for OpenManage Integration for Microsoft System Center for Microsoft
System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)
Windows Admin Center is built as an extensible platform allowing the install, uninstall, and update of
individual extensions. The Dell OpenManage Integration extension can be installed from the Microsoft NuGet
feed (requires Internet connectivity) or manually from a file share or local drive.
18
There are two types of Premium licenses: one for PowerEdge Servers and Failover Clusters, one for
Microsoft HCI Solutions (supporting Azure Stack HCI and Windows Server HCI solutions).
Note: Licenses are unique based on the hardware platform. For example, Microsoft HCI Solutions and PE
Premium license does not support mismatched licenses.
The Dell OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter helps you manage physical and virtual infrastructure
from a single interface. You no longer need to use multiple consoles to manage both your physical and virtual
19
environment. By streamlining the tools and tasks associated with the management and deployment of Dell
PowerEdge servers in your VMware environment, the OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter helps to
dramatically reduce complexity, speed deployment, and minimize risk of IT operations.
The OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter is delivered as a software appliance, enabling easy
installation and integration into the vCenter console.
Licensing - The OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter is licensed per managed host of a single
console installation. Licensing rights are term based, lasting for the 3 to 5 years of the initial purchase, and
include rights to the OpenManage Management Pack for vRealize Operations Manager extension.
Renewal - At the end of the license term, host licenses can be renewed by purchasing the appropriate host
license and adding the new license keys to the OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter instance.
Licensing - OpenManage Integration with ServiceNow requires that either one of the following licenses is
loaded into the managed PowerEdge iDRAC:
• OpenManage Enterprise Advanced+ license, OR
• OpenManage Integration with ServiceNow license
Note: The OpenManage Integration with ServiceNow requires the OpenManage Enterprise console.
20
Please refer to the OpenManage Enterprise section for more details on the OME Advanced+ SKUs. Following are
the SKU details for OpenManage Integration with ServiceNow license:
21
• iDRAC9 Datacenter
• OpenManage Enterprise Advanced+
• OpenManage Integration Suite for Microsoft System Center License, 1 NODE
• OpenManage Integration with MS Windows Admin Center Premium License
• OpenManage Integration for ServiceNow
Note: Secure Enterprise Key Manager and OpenManage Enterprise Modular are not included.

6 Trial Licenses
Dell offers the option to upgrade remote controller modules through a license file. For evaluation purposes,
Dell is granting 30-days trial licenses for iDRAC Enterprise, iDRAC Datacenter, OME-Modular, and CMC
Enterprise to get familiar with the advanced feature set.
Some licenses, like OpenManage Enterprise Advanced or Advanced+, are 90-day licenses.
Note that trial license can only be imported one time per product. Attempting to import an additional trial
license will fail.
Note regarding SEKM not having a trial license: Secure Enterprise Key Manager does not offer a trial license.
Should the license expire, and no full licensed version is on the server, the data on that drive will be locked.

The customer uses their entitlement from their APOS purchase to receive the licenses.
• An entitlement email is sent to the customer at an APOS license purchase. If the customer cannot
locate the email:
o The customer’s order information can be used from the Dell Digital Locker to find the
entitlement which can be exchanged for the APOS product license(s) that were purchased.
DF (dell.com)
• One entitlement will cover any volume of products that were bought; however, the entitlement must
be exchanged for licenses that are bound and iDRAC consumable one by one.
Dell License Manager (DLM) is a one-to-many license deployment and reporting tool for integrated Dell
Remote Access Controller (iDRAC), OpenManage Enterprise Advanced licenses, Chassis Management
Controller (CMC) licenses and additional licenses. DLM can download, bind, deploy and backup:
