Reading

7 Read the information about three volunteering jobs (A-C) and questions (1-4)
below. For every question choose the job it refers to and write the appropriate
letter in the box. One of the jobs matches two questions.

HELP THE VILLAGE

We are working hard to protect the village from flooding and we need you!
A Help us create flood defences around the secondary school and the houses in the
lower part of the village, or collect food, blankets and medicines for children.
If you are interested please contact Rescue Now at 0771 3457 960.

B
The village needs help quickly. The current flooding is the worst in years and our rescue
teams are under a lot of pressure.
We need people who can help plan the building of flood defences, as well as arrange
deliveries of urgent supplies to the elderly and families with young children.
Please contact the Mayor’s office at 0207 858 9989.

C Our village is still struggling to cope with the rising water levels. Rescue workers and
volunteers are working around the clock to build flood defences and deliver supplies.
Hollydale School is now a shelter for local children and we are looking for volunteers to
play with them, read to them and sing them songs. If you’re interested, please contact
Mrs Smith on 0207 555 9854.

Which job is best for someone who

1 is good at building things?
2 is very organised?
3 would like to gather supplies?
