Aids: blackboard, course-book, laptop, audio-visual materials.
Aims:
 assimilate new vocabulary
 help students improve their vocabulary using different types of exercises
 to develop speaking skills
 to make the Ss confident in themselves when speaking a foreign language;
 to give the Ss the opportunity to express their ideas;
Objectives : by the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
– use the new vocabulary (food and drinks)
- Produce their own sentences using the new vocabulary
- Express preferences.

ASSUMPTIONS: Students are already familiar with some words used for this
topic.

ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: They may be noisy when working in


pairs/groups; there will be explanations in Romanian . (if needed);
SOLUTIONS: Create a pleasant and warm atmosphere, provide explanations
when necessary, encourage them to give answers;
PROCEDURE

Activity 1-Warm-up:
Aims:
- to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in the classroom

- to capture the Ss` interest and attention

Interaction : T-Ss; Ss-T;

Timing: 3`
Procedure:
Students greet teacher.
T greets and checks attendance, then asks students to tell five domestic animals,
five wild animals, five colors, five numbers, five family members.

Activity 2- Homework checking


Aims:- To check Ss’ homework and offer feedback
- to check understanding of previously taught material

Interaction : T-Ss; Ss-Ss;


Timing: 3’
Procedure:
Students read the homework and T provides feedback and corrects if necessary.

Activity 3 - Lead-in
Brainstoming
Interaction : T-Ss; Ss-Ss;
Timing: 3’
Procedure:
Teacher tells the students that they are going to learn some new words about food
and drinks and writes the title on the whiteboard. Then T asks students what fruits,
vegetables or other food do they know in English.

Activity 4- Presentation
Aims: - to present and activate the vocabulary of the unit (food and drinks )
Time: 10 ‘
Interaction: T- pupils, pupils -T
Teacher tells students to open their books at page 82 and asks the pupils to
describe the picture. T. points to the images, one at a time, and says the
corresponding word(s).
The pupils listen and repeat, chorally and/or individually. Teacher writes the words
and the translation on the board and the pupils copy them in their notebooks.

Activity 5 – Practice
Aims:
- use and consolidate the Ss` food vocabulary
- to provide freer practice of the language introduced so far

Time: 10 ‘
Interaction: T- pupils, pupils -T
Using the WORDWALL website they have to choose the correct the word related
to the image: Food and drinks 2 - Quiz (wordwall.net)
Then the teacher gives the class instructions with actions, such as ‘Jump if you like
chocolate ice cream’ or ‘Turn around if you like banana cake’ and so on. Learners can take
turns to give the class their own instructions, choosing both the action and the food.
Activity 6 – Speaking
Aims:
- to put the Ss in the situation of using the new acquired vocabulary;

- to make the Ss confident in themselves when speaking a foreign language;

Time: 15 ‘
Interaction: T- pupils, pupils -T
Procedure:
Teacher tells students that in English, we use like, love, don t like etc, with a verb plus -ing.
Example: I like eating apples.
I don’t like drinking orange juice.
Then Teacher asks students to talk about their likes and dislikes as in the examples.

Activity 7- Feedback and Assessment


Aims: - to let Ss know how well they performed
Time: 4 ‘
Interaction: T- pupils, pupils -T
Teacher briefly revises the lesson and asks students if there are any pieces of
information they did not understand.
The T appreciates the active pupils and gives advice to the less active ones.
Activity 8 - Homework assignment
Aim:
- to provide further practice of the vocabulary
Time: 2 ‘
Interaction: T- pupils, pupils -T
Teacher tell students to learn by heart the words that they have written in their
notebooks.
