GROUP ASSIGNMENT 2: VIDEO PRESENTATION

HUMAN RESOURCE FUNCTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE

Objective: The purpose of this assignment is to help students understand how human resource functions
affect organizational performance.

Instructions:

1. In a group of 5, choose an organization that you are interested in researching. This can be a for-
profit, non-profit, or government organization.

2. With references from internet searches or an interview with someone who has first-hand
experience in the organization of your choosing (family members/friends/someone you know),
produce an interactive video on how HRM functions can positively affect the organization’s
performance.
*Visiting the company is NOT a requirement. The interview can be conducted via telephone or email.

3. The video should contain:


i. Introduction: Briefly introduce the organization and the individual you interviewed (if
any).
ii. Overview of the selected HR function: Provide an overview of the HR function that
includes the role of this function within the organization that you chose.
iii. HR function and organizational performance: Discuss how the HR function affect
performance of the organizations. This should be based on the information gathered from
your research or the interview which may include but are not limited to:
• The key strategies and practices that your organization uses to develop and
maintain a high-performance culture.
• How the organization attracts, retains, and develops talented employees. (HR
Function: Recruitment and Selection; Training and Development; Performance
Management)
• How the organization ensures that employees are motivated and engaged in their
work. (HR Function: Compensation and Benefits)
iv. Conclusion

Following are some possible questions to ask:

✓ What is your role in the HR function of the organization?


✓ How does your HR function contribute to the development of high-performance
organizations?
✓ What are the key strategies and practices that your organization uses to develop and maintain
a high-performance culture?

talented employees?
✓ How does your HR function ensure that employees are motivated and engaged in their work?

NOTE:

• Video presentation should last not more than 10 minutes.


• Video can be shot using any device capable of recording standard or high-definition video:
a high- quality webcam on your computer, a hand-held video camera, or a hand-held
device (smartphone/tabs).
• Creativity is crucial. You may want to incorporate animations, infographics or fine music
in your video presentation.
• All presentations must be in English. You should start your video presentation by
signifying your name, student id, group and topic to be presented.

Submission Date: The deadline for submission will be specified by your instructor.
