bakery in a small town bakes 800 hot cross buns on a Friday night in readiness
for booming sales on the weekend, and they make a profit of 12 cents per bun
sold, what profit do they make altogether if they sell all the buns?

2. Some Australian States are hoping to ban plastic bags used in


many shops and supermarkets. If each plastic bag costs
2 cents, and a supermarket uses 18,500 plastic bags in one day,
how much money does that cost them in one 7-day week? 

3. If free-range eggs cost $4.60 per dozen, how much would it


cost to buy 78 free-range eggs? 

4. A basketball weighs 620 grams. A sports store sells 12 basketballs


on a busy Saturday. What is the total weight of the basketballs
sold, in kilograms and grams? 

5. The song “Here” by singer Alessia Cara has been on the Aria chart for around
20 weeks, and has just gone Gold (sold 35,000 copies). How many copies has it sold
per week on average?

6. If the ice skating rink for “Disney On Ice” has a diameter


of 150m, what is its radius?

7. In the Rugby League match between the Parramatta Eels and Brisbane
Broncos this week, the Broncos had possession of the ball 52% of the time. What
percentage of the time did Parramatta have the ball? 

8. That same match between the Parramatta Eels


and the Brisbane Broncos ended with the Eels scoring 4
points to the Broncos’ 17. What percentage of the
Broncos’ score was the Eels’ score (correct to 1 decimal place)?

9. A fully-grown Indian elephant can weigh 5,000 kg. If the


trunk of that elephant weights just 12% of the elephant’s total
weight, what is the weight of that trunk? 

10. What is the PRODUCT of the lowest 4 ODD numbers?
