INTRODUCTION:

The Philippine Normal University Mindanao is one of the leading higher education
institutions in the Philippines for teacher education. It holds the titles of the National Center for
Teacher Education and the Multicultural Education Hub in the country. Recently, the institution
was hailed as the Top 1 performing institution nationwide for garnering the 98.32% passing rate
in the Board of Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers last March 26, 2023. This has
become possible because it offers specialized courses taught by high caliber mentors.

One of the specialized courses that the institution is offering is “Pagtuturo ng Filipino sa
mga Dayuhan (Teaching Filipino to Other Nationalities)” in the Third Term in the Fourth Year
Level for students taking up Bachelor in Filipino Education. The course aims to develop the
students’ teaching skills and other skills which will contribute to becoming effective educators
through tutorial services to other nationalities.

On the other hand, this course will be beneficial to the respondents for they will be
learning basic knowledge such as greetings, introduction to oneself, and knowing directions.
Aside from it, they will learn about the rich culture of the Philippines from the student tutors who
will share some of it. The information mentioned above is necessary to survive a day in the
Philippines. The success of the tutorial services will undoubtedly contribute to becoming the
respondents as language and culture-flexible individuals.
