1) Activity 2: Content Notes (13 mins).
Pre-printed concept notes:
The ever-growing society has made people see technology as some form of necessity. TECHNOLOGY
THESE DAYS ENJOYS SUCH FAME AND GLORY BECAUSE OF THE MANY DIFFERENT BENEFITS IT BRINGS
TO HUMANITY. Some would even say that it does not only bring convenience but also pleasure and
happiness to people. This is because of the different leisure activities that technology can offer to people. In
general, technology keeps on progressing due to not only the changing times and environment but also to the
EVER-PROGRESSING MIND OF MANKIND.
A number of technological devices can be easily found inside the home, the most accessible place to
anyone. A typical household owns at least four of the following devices: a mobile phone (89%), smartphone
(53%), tablet (14%), desktop (39%), laptop or netbooks (37%), and smart TV (4%). These data prove the
deep-seated fascination of Filipinos to different technological devices.
Some facts about Filipinos and their use of gadgets and the internet:
 Mobile phone subscription is at 119 million.
 Filipinos spend approximately 3.2 hours on mobile and 5.2 hours on desktop daily.
 Currently, the Philippines has one of the highest digital populations in the world.
 There are now 47 million active Facebook accounts in the Philippines.
 The Philippines is the fastest-growing application market in Southeast Asia.
Ethical/Moral Dilemmas Faced by These Technological Advancements:
Children become lazy and unhealthy.
Alienation, because people no longer take time to get out of their houses and mingle with other people.
People have the tendency to be unaware of the time because they are so engrossed with the use of
technological device. In fact, if they get disturbed, there is a great chance that they will get mad or
annoyed.

and technology.
Concept Graphic Organizer

The way I see it is that technology is starting to get more advanced

than humans. One day technology may replace humans, which is obviously
very possible. These days humans usually have smart phones, and smart
phones do exactly what their name says. A smart phone can be "smarter"
than the average human, considering a smart phone can access the web at
any point of time. Technology has helped humans with lots of things
besides phones also. GPS, advanced cars, computers, and etc. In my own
personal opinion I think technology is great where it's at. Any more
advanced than where we are may be bad.

Can you cite an example where technology is considered bad?
You become addicted to video games after playing
them all day. Due to a lack of sleep, your grades may suffer
and your eyes may hurt.

accessible to almost anyone in the world. It is not completely impossible to say that each person in the
world owns at least one technological device. Besides, (3) technology in not enclosed to expensive and
high-end devices. Simple types of machines that can perform simple task regularly can already be
considered a form of technology. However, despite its (4) usefulness and beneficial characteristics,
there are still some problems faced by the different technological advancements. To be more specific,
these problems are (5) ethical in nature that involve not only the machine but also mankind. It is now
impossible for technology and humanity not to (6) cross paths because as some would argue, technology
has become a (7) necessity for people. At the end of the day, (8) ethics should still be enforced in the
field of technology so as to ensure the safety and (9) morality of these devices to people.

C. LESSON WRAP-UP
1) Activity 6: Thinking about Learning (5 mins)
Directions: Answer each of the following questions in one sentence only.

a. Enumerate the different technological advancements in society.

Ans. Technology has helped humans with lots of things besides phones also gps, advanced cars,
computers, and etc. In my own personal opinion I think technology is great where it's at. Any
more advanced than where we are may be bad.

b. Explain the effects of the interplay between technology and humanity through the dilemma(s) they
face.
Ans. Humanity is not affected by technology in any way. Technology, on the other hand, allows
a small number of psychopaths to transmit their mental illnesses to others by providing them
with unrestricted access to those individuals. This is a big problem that we are currently
dealing with. The simple solution is to ensure that the general populace is prepared to deal
with such events. Powerful psychopaths will try everything they can to prevent this, but only
time will tell.

Note : Mark the place in the work tracker which is simply a visual to help track how much work
you have accomplished and how much work there is left to do. This tracker will be part of the

{These are standard instructions for teachers.}

A. If this session happens to be a face-to-face, in-classroom learning session:
1) Collect completed work in the SAS.
2) Allocate your contact time with students to individual or small group mentoring, monitoring,
and student consultations.
3) You may administer summative assessments (quizzes, demonstrations, graded recitation,
presentations, performance tasks) during face-to-face sessions.
4) You may also explore supplementary activities that foster collaboration, provided that social
distancing is observed.
5) You may provide supplementary content via videos, etc.

It is important to remember that students who cannot make it to face-to-face, in-classroom

sessions for health and safety reasons, should not be given lower grades for missing in-class
activities and should be given alternative summative tests.

B. If this session happens to be an at-home learning session for the students:

1) Check and grade collected SAS and other input from students.
2) Schedule phone calls/virtual calls/virtual chats to individual students or small groups of
